So the Wanderers will have a fair amount of input into the new Parra stadium eh?

I'm tipping flare proof seats will be installed. Possibly ones that can withstand the weight of a a 80kg euro hooligan wannabee jumping up and down might come in handy for the long run?

Lets hope that the primary tenants are having plenty of input as well..

Would that be the primary tenant

who take 2 home games away from the stadium every season?

If Capacity was raised to 35K I think that might give Parra less reasons to move any games away from the ground. Potentially could attract more games against them to the ground as well.

Either way I think both teams have fairly similar wants and needs for the ground.

Although related to Parra stadium being out of action for a while, they have been exploring the idea of using the bigger ANZ for a while.

And I seem to remember WSW taking a home game or 2 to Campbelltown stadium? A lot of sporting teams in all codes are embracing spreading 'the word' by taking games away from their primary home. Parra aren't on their Pat Malone mate.

With reference to the Wanderers taking games away from Pirtek, they were what are called "Community Rounds" where the club is obliged to take a game away from the home ground. They took one to Campbelltown, and have taken 1 to Penrith.
Under the wishes of their supporters, the club has refused to move bigger games to a bigger stadium.

I agree with BillytheKid - both clubs will do significantly better with a 35000 capacity stadium, and it may well be the end of the Eels taking games to Homebush. I hope so anyway.

So I'm guessing you do not think the eels should continue with the easter monday clash at ANZ stadium that has drawn large crowds the last couple of years.

That's a good question.
TBH, I'd prefer to see a sold out 35000 crowd at Pirtek, then a 35000 crowd at Homebush, so yes.

Hang on, weren't you ragging on Allianz stadium, in perticular it's concession stands?

nope that was r20. i don't mind the sfs, although i think it should get a retractable roof

And yet you think Parra Stadium is okay?

i don't mind it, but i do think they should put in more seats on the ends, or just get rid of those large advertising signs behind the seats that are already there and let people sit/stand on the hills

What about 60000 at Homebush?

Can you remind me how many times that has happened in a regular season?
Both the Eels and Wanderers have outgrown Pirtek, the smallest capacity ground in the NRL.
It's all about creating demand and memberships.
The next step is to start to create demand at the new Pirtek.
Then, and only then, should the Eels be looking at taking games elsewhere.

So your idea to improve the game is to keep aiming for the same benchmarks? Great planning there. Mmmmmmmm?

No. Don't you listen?

How is aiming for sold out 35000 seat stadiums, thus creating demand for memberships, aiming for the same benchmarks?
How has two Easter Monday crowds of 50 000 and 35000 done that?

I think this issue is more complicated than you can comprehend.
Quit while you're behind.

Behind lol. I actually agree that parra stadium rebuild is awesome. I think the Tigers should play there too. But i do not agree with you about the Eels not taking any games to homebush. Part of the strategy has to be to build these big event games at the large stadiums. Your counter to this was that we have never had those crowds.

You state that the issue is more complicated than i can comprehend. Well im looking at this from a whole game view point. Not building the crowds and memberships of 1 club. You are the one simplifing the arguement by narrowing it fown to one stadium and one club

Fair enough.
We can agree on one thing - we want to grow the sport.
Before the Wanderers came along, I was an advocate of taking Eels games to ANZ. I didn't believe we should be locking people out of Pirtek, and denying fans the chance to see the game.

However,

Since the Wanderers have refused to take clearly bigger games to bigger stadiums, they have created a demand for season tickets that ensures fans will get into the games they want. That is building a supporter base, which they have now done.
On the other hand, the Eels for example, take most of their bigger games to the larger stadium. Fans then, know they will always be able to get a ticket, and subsequently, don't buy a membership. Aussies are lazy and complacent. Memberships are a huge money spinner for clubs.
The Wanderers now have over 16000 season ticket holders (capped) with a waiting list.
They are not the be all and end all of anything, but they HAVE shown that firstly, they will play where fans want them to play, and secondly, they have created the demand requiring an upgraded stadium.

I now think that the Eels should also do the same until such time they can demand the need to play in a bigger stadium as required.
Pirtek is being rebuilt. No question. The Wanderers are pushing harder for a larger stadium and a more specific football stadium (steep tiers). I really hope the Eels can make the most of this help.
As I said before, you asked a good question, and I'm trying to explain the answer I gave the best I can.
