The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The liberals couldn’t push hard on the broken promise because they were the ones who wanted the unpopular stadium in the first place. People don’t remember what happened last month, let alone a few years ago. The heat will totally go out of the stadium issue in 2-3 years.

I’m just correcting the record. It’s a 35 year old design.

Comparing a utilitarian building to the opera house is a bit silly, isn’t it? Opera house is famous for its appearance, why its heritage listed. Obviously you’d modify a building like that. Even if it cost a truckload.

As I just stated, and you conveniently ignored, the toilets aren’t the only issue. No one is advocating tearing down the SFS because there aren’t enough female toilets. They’re advocating tearing it down because it’s one of several problems.

While the SFS is 35 years old its design is older

It was based upon the 1964 120k St Peters stadium proposed by the NSWRL

So how many do other stadiums have per 10k seats ?

I’m not sure, but going off the guidelines in that piece it would be around 75 per 10k for a new stadium.

Workplace guidelines are the only thing I could find, it says 1 toilet for every 15 women.

So let’s say a 45k footy crowd was 30% women. NRL stats say 45% of fans are women, so 30% is on the low side of a guess.

At 350 toilets that would be 1 toilet for every 38 women.

So if we dig two underground toilet blocks of 200 where the road walkways are should covers things

Standing room only

Sticking with the Wanderers, their active supporters are set to be rewarded with a major safe standing section at the new Bankwest Stadium.

The Herald understands 1,200 capacity safe-standing area will be constructed into the new arena once the formality of a safety approval is gained.

The section is equivalent to more than half of the previous seated section of the old north end at the old Parramatta Stadium and will include the German-style bolt secured safe-standing seats.

The club will also construct a large box for their active supporter group's leaders to assist in choreography.

So they’re putting in seats first and then add the standing room later?

Originally they were going to transform the area every season, ie install seats for the NRL season. I don’t think that’s really necessary tbh. Some NRL fans might like the standing, and it doesn’t take up prime space for the NRL.

we have some female boggers experts around

Can I dare suggest shock of horrors , perhaps some people like to watch.

I've got it, let's make all the boggers at the SFS unisex.Reduce the number of p*ss pits. And provide incontinence bags for those many males who need to make regular visits after consuming copious amounts of the amber stuff.
Solution at hand.

Sydney’s Suncorp: The first look at Bankwest Stadium

DAVID RICCIO, The Daily Telegraph

The Mick Cronin and Ken Thornett Stands signs have been torn down.

And the grassy north and south hills named after Peter Sterling and Brett Kenny are now the foundation for concrete slabs.

The tryline ends of Parramatta Stadium were for ‘Kenny Magic” bedsheet signs, painted blue and gold, and where on Sundays the ‘Parramatta Jesus’ would stand in his robe to bless ‘Hindy’ and ‘Caylo’.

Not that you remember any of this once you’re standing inside the construction zone of the Eels new home, Bankwest Stadium.

Once inside Australia’s game-changing stadium, it’s impossible to recall what once stood, such is the staggering transformation of what was the 32-year-old Parramatta Stadium, into the 75 per cent complete Banwest Stadium.

The new ground is on track to open next season.

That’s what fans will find themselves doing next year on Easter Monday, when Parramatta and Wests Tigers go head to head in the opening sports event at the stadium.

You’ll look left, look right, down and up. All the while, scratching your head.

Is this really where the ‘Zip Zip Man’ and the ‘Guru’ ran riot?

Instead, what you’ll feel is that you’re standing inside not just the best 30,000-seat rectangular stadium in Sydney, but the world.

Similar in design to that of the world-class Optus Stadium in Perth, the overhead sail-structure covers the entire stadium seating.

The new stadium will boast the steepest seating in Australia.

No more umbrellas, no more ponchos at the footy.

The Sunday Telegraph stood on the western concourse, directly above the four dressing rooms beneath the grandstand, which will allow men and women to prepare on any given match-day.

The facilities are unprecedented in Sydney.

A mini-Suncorp Stadium is how Bankwest has been described.

But Bankwest will prove superior — both in design and atmosphere.

Certainly, you can already feel the similarities once you peer down from your seat and onto the pitch where the Eels, Wests Tigers and Wanderers will play next year.

But Bankwest has what Suncorp doesn't: at 34-degree rake that provides the steepest stadium seating in Australia.

The new stadium will become a hub for Sydney’s sporting action.

You feel like you’re literally over the top of the action.

There is another clever feature.

At the northern end, removable seats have been installed for when the Wanderers play, allowing supporter group the Red and Black Bloc more room to stand and sing — and without the threat of seat damage.

Banwest Stadium, with its enormously wide passageways for fans, concourse areas and soon-to-be installed food village, reminds you of what US sports fans are treated to every week.

They’ve been experiencing world-class stadiums for decades.

Finally, we’ll get ours in just four months.
