Looking good, is it still on track for opening for the start of next season or is that too ambitious?

yes mate, although they may ask for a few away games to start 2020 just to have an insurance policy for another decent wet season and the potential slow down of work during that period. I think there will be a fair bit of visual progress over the next 5-6months.

All these new stadiums are stunning, I am a true socialist and if I lived in New South Wales I would be voting liberal. Our game needs these new stadiums.
Deadset, if Daley and Labor get in, my mate and I who come down each year for Origin can stick our money up his ass, we won't be back.

SCG turf badly ripped up after the Waratahs match tonight, doesn't stand well for the Roosters vs South's first round game this coming Friday and the rest of the season, have this to look forward to for a few years while we wait for the redevelopment of the SFS site.

Going to be a very long 3 years..

Just throw up a bank West on sfs site.. ffs

Agree with the sentiment that the stadiums are overdue. Don't think enough has been stated about the current structural issues of the SFS as well. Apparently concrete cancer is part of the current stadium's issues? If that was emphasized most people would agree with the replacement.

So let me compare this to Victoria.

Docklands stadium was completed in 2000 at a cost of $720million in 2019 dollars

This was to be used as a replacement to a 30 year old Waverly park (now a training venue)

Similar to a run down 30 year old SFS

The MCG southern stand in 1992 was upgraded to roughly $283 million 2019 dollars

The MCG northern stand (half the total capacity) was upgraded for roughly $606 million to be ready for 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Where was the public uproar then.

The Victorian government has allocated $500 million for mcg and dockland upgrades to compete against other states like Perth and Adelaide for new stadiums and to help hosts other sports and like soccer and yep Rugby League

http://www.dscribe.net.au/2018/04/1...e-500-million-mcg-and-etihad-stadium-upgrade/

NSW with the number 1 population will fall to a.distant 5th best for modern stadia behind Victoria , Sa, wa and Qld

Jeff kennett says it thist article his h://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.smh.com.au/sport/former-victoria-premier-jeff-kennett-defends-nsws-23-billion-stadium-deal-20180111-h0gvn9.html

People say well MCG hasn't been knocked down or SCG .

That's bull as cricket grounds are made up of multiple stands and not one continuous stadium that rugby league stadiums are.

For SFS or anz a total knockdown rebuild is only option.

I'm 2013 the na noble Bradman stand cost $283 million (2019 dollars ) for only 1 quarter of total capacity.

So why did this all happen in history but now in 2019 it's such a huge issue!

because the average person is a f**king moronic sheep and will think what the media tell them to think. Fitzsimmons the merkin got in early and set the tone for the reaction to these stadiums. Hopefully you lot in NSW see through the bullshit and don’t allow labor back in. It blows my mind that the Labor party are taking this line on the stadium and basic infrastructure issues in Sydney.

Victorian Government expenditure on Docklands was zero before the recent announcement - it was entirely privately funded and built. The Great Southern Stand was completely funded by the MCC with no Government funding. The Northern Stand received a total of $77 million in Vic State Gov funding with the rest funded by the MCC, and a further $30 million was spent in the Southern Stand .

Thats why there was no public uproar. The Taxpayer barely put in anything until Aami Park was built in 2006 (which was another $260m).

They are now putting almost $250M into the Docklands, though.

Sshh the Wookie is an AFL apologist. He ignores the Govt money expended on Spotless and the SCG,SA and Wa stadiums for the AFL's benefit. The State Labor Govt was broke ATT when money was thrown at spotless/Blacktown.
Or the $2m pa for many years by the ACT Govt to GWS to play about 3 matches in Canberra.
The AFL have successfully lobbied for many years for State and Fed Govt moneys for infrastructure ,whereas the 3 rectangular codes have sat on the backsides and done or received little by comparison.
The public complained in SA and WA BTW

There was a big article about stadiums in the Daily Telegraph on Saturday. It quoted an administrator of the MCG saying that the only thing at the ground which is close to its original state is the picket fence around the ground. Otherwise none of the structures, other than the light towers, are more than about 10 years old at most.

Should’ve the roosters taken more games to central coast or perhaps BankWest?

Absolutely not.

I can cop a few at Gosford while we're "homeless", it's good for footy fans up the highway.

But to do a Souffs and take more games from East to an overcrowded Western sydney market would be crossing a line.
I live in Parramatta at the moment and this would still piss me off.

I don't think we should have taken games to WSS but do think a couple more at Gosford against out of town opposition whilst we are playing at SCG is reasonable. I would have taken 2 more to Gosford this year for 3 total there, 1 Adelaide, 1 Suncorp and 7 SCG.

Had they of done that, they would have had to cut season ticket prices, as there is no way people would pay the same rates from 2018 for 2 less games in 2019. As such the loss of revenue may not have compensated.

Yes of course.

They could sell CC memberships that would hopefully make up the revenue
