The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

The NSW is trying to limit the future cost of stadium upgrades by amalgamating teams in 3 major stadia. What the f**k are the NRL clubs thinking by keeping these (COSTLY) suburban grounds running!?!?!

They're thinking their fans won't travel , at least not for all games.

Northern beaches to Allianz is an absolute shitfight , anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

Could manly move to the central coast permanently?

I've lived in Sydney for 10 years and I know how much of a pain it is for the manly locals to get to games outside of their area, moving games to Allianz and ANZ is not going to work. I know Gosford is even further away but would the CC locals be behind the team enough to warrant a full time move there (properly this time) along with the manly die hards? I just can't see brooky getting enough coin to do it up substantially. The joint is terrible.

If they were to move best to still play 2-3 games at brookvale to keep the connection.

Brookvale is unsustainable long term unless some miracle funding comes through.

If manly fans won't travel to moore park for finals matches on a sunday then there is no hope of it happening for regular season matches!

Manly need to find a co-tennant or at the very least more content for brooky in order to make the case for a refurb. Problem is i don't think any other code is in a position to have a pro team on the northern beaches.

The only hope for Manly getting a co-tenant is ironically the CC Mariners , there has been some talk of them moving games to Sydney.

It might be hard for Manly fans to travel to the city , but that doesn't mean their ground would need to be on the beaches. Perhaps somewhere more central between the North Shore & the Beaches would make sense?

Obviously it's an extreme long shot either way , but expanding their territory into the north shore could help their survival long term.

Rather than spend more money on Brooky. They should team up with warriagah rugby club and develop that ground. Heaps of parking and parklands. So it's very easy to share the ground and build something proper there without tearing down stuff. The club could then go the Penrith route and build a nice academy and training facilities there. Be a cheaper option than upgrading Brooky which just is in the wrong place.

How much is the dude who props up manly worth?

Maybe he should help pay for it.

How much would it cost to upgrade brooky?

Hunter stadium upgrade was only $60mil and has a 33k capacity

Win stadium upgrade was $30mil, although still has one side as a hill

CBUS super stadium cost about $160mil from nothing.

You could easily upgrade brooky for something in the vicinity of $30-50mil to make it a comfortable stadium.

You could probably do a brand new boutique stadium for $100m

What about someone to hate?

Edit: I guess there's always the Storm, Broncos or Dragons for that.

I think if Manly won't commit to any involvement at a rebuilt , or refurbed Alianz Stadium then let them wither & die at Brookvale
the NSW Govt can't be building stadiums for single entities as the return just won't be there. Allianz services 3 teams in 3 codes for regular season games for a majority of the year as well as finals & other events etc ... money spent on it can be justified.
Pirtek 2 teams in 2 codes & extra games from other NRL sides after its rebuilt ... a strong case for tax payers monies to be spent.
ANZ
well this plan for a rebuild is a no brainer with multiple clubs using it regularly , it will be an amazing venue that NRL clubs will want to play at & fans of these clubs will want to go to. Sydney will finally get a major rectangle stadium it can be proud of after over 100 years of having a rectangle sport as its major sport.
single clubs wanting money spent on venues that they alone use will rightly fall on deaf ears
as there is no sensible argument for it.

rebuild Pirtek
refurb Allianz
rebuild ANZ

do it...

Wouldn't they be the most hated NRL club? Well its us or them?

That brings something...
I felt sympathy for Manly when I watched them lose by 60. I've never felt sympathy for the Broncos.

I think the most hated side is the one that is currently doing best on-field out of Brisbane, Melbourne, Manly and the Roosters.
