The Game Future NRL Stadiums part II

This is an idea that would probably either be a big success or huge fail, but either way would be interesting (its also slightly of topic but relevant to the discussions above)

If theres going to be a few homeless teams for a year, would it be possible and all that bad if that team decided to temporarily "relocate" to an expansion area for a year to "test the waters" for the NRL (with a fair bit of money thrown in)

eg: Souths don't really have a stand out option of Sydney stadiums, so they decide to set up camp in Perth for a year? or even 50/50 with another area

If they managed a half decent crowd average for the year, then thats surely a sign that a new club actually representing the area would be successful?

Not a bad idea, the NRL could offer financial incentives on top of what the clubs would get from those areas for every game those clubs play in "strategic" areas.

I'd imagine any more than a 6/6 split would be a bit too much.

Hypothetically:
Roosters - Central Coast and/or Adelaide
Souths - Perth
Bulldogs - Christchurch.

I’ve only caught up with the news in NSW that it’s looking like a one seat win to the Libs. Not sure if there is any change in the upper house (as we don’t have one in QLD so don’t fully understand it), but is this stadium deal a foregone conclusion?

You’re missing the point as to why it’s important to do them simultaneously.

If you do one, and do it properly, it takes 2-3 years. By which time we’re headed towards another election and you’ve just spent a billion dollars on a stadium. At that point it becomes far more politically expedient to do the absolute bare minimum on the other and call it a day.

This is a once in fifty year investment in Sydney sports infrastructure. Do it properly.
Yes. Do it properly. And wait so we arent forced to use the shithole that is the SCG when you can already see that it cant even handle the SFS overflow.

Which Will. Not. Happen.

If they do one properly and it takes three years, they won't do anything to the other beyond a new coat of paint.

The SCG cant even handle the load now which is being helped out by Kogragh and brookvale which too is now having problems but you want it all done at the same time.
Its pretty obvious youre not from Sydney at all.

There’s significant overhang of the roof on the outside, unlike what it was at the SFS. I heard it explained that they had to leave it open as there was nowhere else air flow.

Cheers HH, relieved to hear it :)

You are wrong.
No rain elements will enter Bankwest from behind the top decks. The overhang of the rear of the upper level is large enough to prevent rain incursion - unless of course we have a Cat 5 cyclone.
This has been discussed many times before.

Thanks for the confirmation :D

ANZ should be put back until after next years grand final, then we can play the following 2 grand finals at the new sfs

Allianz is going to need more than $18m, the roof is half demolished.

The only thing that might happen is a reduction in the spend on it, but it's being rebuilt.

Yep, the $13 million was only for some of the electrical wiring, exit signs and the lie. The Herald's story on it said that to address all the safety concerns the cost was $131 million.
