Would Queenslanders even bother to show up if there were no Queensland teams in it? A lot of interest dies off here when there are no Queensland teams left.

If you held an NRL GF at Suncorp for a year or 2 100% it would sell out within an hour. They'd probably have to reserve 10,000 or so seats for when teams are decided but it would be a full house even if it was Manly V Penrith. I guess we'll never know though.

If the so called "Magic weekend" goes ahead we'll have some idea considering all the games in the round are proposed to be played out of Suncorp over 1 weekend.

West's Panthers would have made more sense. Realistically

You never know what could happen in the future. The Panthers club try to avoid mentioning Penrith anymore. They believe the Panthers represent a much larger region than Penrith. Penrith isn't even on our logo anymore.

A few years ago the club trade marked the names Western Sydney Panthers and Western Panthers if I remember correctly.

That stadium idea is my number 1 preference with the Tigers moving their operation to Campbelltown full-time.
The problem with that is that Ashfield control the Wests Tigers, they are not going to move the team fully to Campbelltown. Balmain is very close to losing the 25% share they currently hold.

In saying that, since taking the majority share in the Wests Tigers, Wests Ashfield have taken steps to better embrace the Campbelltown region. For example they returned the Magpies to the NSW ISP competition to create clearer pathways for the region. Wests Magpies are now the direct feeder side to the Wests Tigers NRL side.

That is a positive step. Would like to see more happen development wise from Under 13's to Under 18's though. How many players from that region are currently in the Wests Tigers First Grade team? Lawrence, Nofoaluma and Sue?

Also the ISP coach in Brett Hodgson is a Wests junior. You can include James Tedesco as an NRL player who came through the Magpie ranks as well.

What is interesting when you look at the Sponsors of the Wests Magpies, West Ashfield is listed first and Campbelltown is listed last. Even more telling is when you look at the website for Wests Campbelltown it has no branding of the Magpies and seems to be more aligned with the GWS Giants than the Magpies.

Maybe the problems stem from Wests Campbelltown's lack of involvement and its interesting to note that a club (Wests Ashfield) 50km away seem to be doing most of the legwork in the region.

Apples and Oranges I think. For a one off NRL Grand Final tickets would go very quickly just on the novelty factor alone. Looks unlikely to happen in any of our life times now though.

So since Sue and Nofoaluma debuted in 2013 no one else has filtered through the development system to the Tigers NRL team from the Macarthur region since? That is very concerning.

Not too dissimilar to Penrith before Gus arrived.

We have developed more NRL players from Dubbo than Wests have from Campbelltown in the past 5 years!

I want Tigers to move to Campbelltown full-time. However if they don't want to give the area the respect it deserves let another team do it.

I dont see why "let" comes into it...

Surely, if the Panthers are keen on the SW (which would be a great move for them), they dont need WTs to hand over the keys to the city.

Fan days, school visits and a few games at Campbeltown Stadium. I dont see how the Tigers could stop them...

A GF is a different beast to the proposed Magic Weekend.

The NRL f**ked up not letting the GF hit the road for a few years while the stadiums are being upgraded. And especially since the ANZ complete rebuild was shit canned, that was their opportunity to move it.

I would buy sideline seats to a Brisbane grand final regardless of who is playing!

That pretty much cemented the NRL as walkovers. We basically got nothing that we wanted and still let NSW keep all the GF's.

f**k that. ANZ is a shit hole that needs to be revamped and we need to send that message by taking away GF's from there.

Sydney needs a new large capacity stadium.

Yes.
And the AFL need to f**k off and stop having any say in Sydney stadia infrastructure decisions, and the govt needs to stand up to bullies like Fitzsimmons and Jones and just do it.
We are being made to look 3rd world.

Anyway, this is what Bates Smart put forward as an alternative to a rebuilt Allianz.

Seriously, how much better an option this would be?
Close to transport (derr). Close to so many entertainment options.
Close to city workers for a Friday night option.
It's a no brainer really.
Sadly, it will never happen. Too many political power brokers with self interest in this city (I'm looking at you SCG Trust), and wayyyy too many weak kneed politicians who don't have the balls to push for something so ground breaking.
We always talk about Melbourne, and the proximity to the city and transport links their stadiums have.
Well...…...this is the answer for Sydney.

Suitman, its a non-goer as unfortunately the land where the SCG Trust is located can only be used for certain things. Yes the trustees are a problem I agree with you, but I seriously doubt any Government is going to knockdown the SFS, build a new Stadium and then have a whole tract of land which they cannot sell off to finance it. The land that the SCG Trust has vested in it is heavily restricted on what it can be used for. That's why (for example) there has never been a serious proposal to pull a stadium down and put up units on the site. They legally cannot do it.

It’s funny because this exact idea has been talked about in this thread going back a long way (building it over the tracks)

The only problem with this proposal is this should be the main stadium. 45k would be too small. If it’s right next to central all of a sudden it changes from being a club ground to the main event stadium.

We can dream..

Every now and then there's a mention of a whisper of a future Outer Western Sydney Stadium to be built somewhere west of the M7. If infrastructure planners had any say on it, surely the Western Sydney Aerotropolis would be an amazing and logical opportunity for a boutique size stadium like WSS. 20 minutes from Penrith, exactly halfway between Penrith and Campbelltown, a CBD being raised from the ground up and most importantly, transport links are being designed/built to get people to and from the rest of Sydney to the new Badgerys Creek airport as fast as possible. What a dream that would be.

Completely agree with this and have been saying it for awhile now. The Outer Western Sydney Stadium is still on the agenda. It is about 10 years away though.

That is my rough sketch. Stadium in red next to the Northern Road (which is being upgraded). Airport is the black box. I would have the following stops on the train line. -

Rouse Hill, Marsden Park, Ropes Crossing, St Marys, Erskine Business Park, Luddenham Science Park, Airport, Stadium, Oran Park, Gregory Hills and Campbelltown.

This therefore would become a stadium for those people in the growing areas of the North-West and South-West as well as the Penrith district.

I personally would love a new stadium at Penrith but I can't see that happening due to the lack of content. Best way for Penrith to play out of a new stadium is to share with the Tigers.
