Yeah - at Henson Park it is but its brilliant.. Cans on the hill - in and out like a pit-stop..

On the flipside - example... Win Stadium Western Grandstand - I was there with my darlin (her first NRL game) this year for Dragons Knights and i kid you not.. the bar had one bloke, yes one bloke, operating an old-school till. With every beer a different price... Waiting in the queue was like having your teeth pulled out through your backside.. Absolutely woeful.

At Kogarah, on the hill they have one person opening warm cases of Great Northern stubbies with a bottle opener and the other person pouring the stubbies into plastic cups.

Speaking of the SFS, Michael Daley is saying the rebuild won’t go ahead if he wins. I don’t see how he can stop it, but it could be possible we see less money spent on it.

You won't get a single cent': Labor stands firm on stadium cash

The NSW Labor party will not rebuild either the Sydney Football Stadium at Moore Park or proceed with an $800 million upgrade to ANZ Stadium at Sydney Olympic Park if it wins government at the March election.

Labor leader Michael Daley said that, as premier, he would scrap the entirety of the $1.5 billion earmarked for the stadiums by the Berejiklian government, and instead invest it in schools and hospitals.

Mr Foley indicated Labor might support the refurbishment of ANZ, while always opposing the proposal for a new stadium at Moore Park.

Mr Foley resigned last month amid sexual harassment allegations, which he denied.

Announcing the policy on Monday, Mr Daley reserved his sternest words for the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust, which manages the Sydney Football Stadium, also known as Allianz Stadium. Mr Daley warned that the SCG Trust "will not get a single cent of free public money" to rebuild the stadium under his government.

"I'm saying very clearly to the SCG Trust today: do not sign contracts for the demolition of this stadium. Do not demolish this stadium. If you do, you will not get a single cent of free public money from me if I am elected premier in March of next year," Mr Daley said.

"They can get a loan from the banks or talk about possibly a concessional loan from the government, but they will have to pay it back. If they get a loan from the Daley government, it won't be free."

A spokesman for Infrastructure NSW, the government agency responsible for building and upgrading the stadiums, said the demolition contract would not be awarded until planning approval was received.

The SCG Trust declined to comment.

Plans for the new stadium are well underway, with Sports Minister Stuart Ayres last month unveiling the winning design for the stadium's facade by architecture firm Cox Richardson – the same firm that designed the existing Sydney Football Stadium.

The spokesman said that if Allianz Stadium was not rebuilt, the agreement would be void and the NRL would have to consider its options for major matches.

“That is not what we want to do … we want to see new world-class sporting facilities built in Sydney,” the spokesman said.

Mr Daley rejected assertions that his position would require Labor to break existing contracts, or that it could lead to the demolition of the stadium with no assurance as to whether a replacement stadium would be built.

"I'm not going to break contracts. I will not put the taxpayers of NSW up for hundreds of millions of dollars of sovereign risk," Mr Daley said.

But he added he would not be "blackmailed" into funding the project should the Trust "knock it down, and leave a hole".

With the election less than four months away, Mr Daley framed his position as one that would give NSW voters a "very clear distinction" between the two major parties. "The people of NSW have a very clear choice now: if you want billions of dollars spent knocking down and rebuilding perfectly good stadiums, vote for the Liberals and Nationals," he said.

"If you want billions of dollars put into schools and hospitals, vote for me."

So, those of you who live in NSW - is this going to be the single biggest issue to decide the next election?

Polling indicates most people don’t see any value in a rebuilding both stadiums. Whether it leads to an election win is another story. But using it to get his head and the ALP in the media for something other than Foley’s misconduct is a pretty smart move I would have thought.

I am actually fine with this.
Firstly, I don't agree with the SFS rebuild;
Secondly, I like the idea of the SCG trust getting told where to go; and
Thirdly, I am hoping the NRL GF gets moved around.

The NRL have to get on the front foot here and let the media know ‘Sydney will lose the GF if the stadiums deal is not met’. Put the pressure back on the opposition and make it known to everyone in NSW that you will lose the GF and the money it generates. Fight fire with fire.

what a wanker

say goodbye to the NRL GF and Origin

Why would you play NRL GF anywhere but Sydney in an 85k stadium? Unless you want to play at MCG cause you can get 100k. Bearing in mind suncorp and ANZ are pretty much the same age the NRLs empty threat to move the GF is just BS. At least when NFL or NBA threaten a city about building a new stadium they can relocate the team to another city.

Can you imagine how pissed off NSW people would be if the GF moved to 50k stadium? The AFL would love the backlash. NRL would have to be the biggest morons in the world to move it from ANZ regardless of if it’s rebuilt or not

A bigger pot plant than foley.

NSW is a lot like the NRL, selfishness results in nothing ever getting done until one day they are left to argue over the ruins. I would call his bluff, if the sfs is knocked down there is no way they will not have to replace it with another stadium. He’s a twit looking for a cheap headline because no one knows who he is and he thinks he can cash in on the vic election result, ironically won off the back of big infrastructure spending.

They should ignore him, he wants the debate to get his face in the media.

Assuming the contract gets signed if/ before he gets elected, wont his promise have no effect on the outcome?

if the Libs are smart, they will write into the building contract that if the contract is cancelled the state gov will have to pay the contractors in 1.5 times the $$ back. Make it so that if they do lose power, Labor have no choice but to build it as it will cost more to get out of it.

Hmmm $1.5b for hospitals and schools through NSW or a rebuild of two stadiums that might sell out once a year or the next time Taylor Swift arrives... Not sure you can really try fighting fire with fire on this one. Even KPMG assessment didn’t really champion much economic benefit from the rebuilds

Smart... So the majority of the state wants $1.5b spent elsewhere. But if the libs are smart they should tie the hands of the next government to a rebuild no one wants? I think that would be political suicide right before an election
