the biggest code proudly excludes the class of society that can afford to go. Dopey.
I bet it is the only code of football that does that.
What? Tickets are not that expensive to see nrl compared with many sports around the world, in fact they are damn cheap! This myth that all rugby league fans are deros, dolies or road sweepers needs to be put in the bin, it’s not helping us attract corporate support!

F1 cheapest pass $180-300
an nfl cheap ticket is going to cost you $150-250
Cheapest epl tickets $50-100
cheapest nrl tickets for many clubs $20, get a membership and it goes down to $12-15 a game!

So you are disagreeing with what the club has stated then?
Tbf they’ve been very non Committal at this stage of how many games they are playing where. I’d imagine it will be 9-2-1. Anything different to that is going to hurt them in building a brisbane fanbase and pulling in enough fans and corporate support to bring in decent revenue. the split will make a big difference to the number of full memberships to 4 games membership they can sell imo. If you want 20k plus attendance avg then 75% of games at least need to be at Suncorp

It isnt a myth. They mostly are. Tradies at the high end and housos at the low end.
Of course some accountants/lawyers follow NRL but not many and not closely.

yep , & they will see the stupidity of that too. the NRL isn't setting up a 2nd franchise in Brisbane finally after 35 years , to have them play games at suburban goat tracks
and yet their core fan base is not going to travel an hour each way (at least) to Brisbane to watch them, particularly in a bad time slot. There core fan base in not in Brisbane. It would be like asking Sharks fans to travel to Stadium Australia or SFS each week to watch them play.

Difference is that the sharks aren't the only other team in Sydney. Dolphins aren't only trying appeal to a small region in outer Brisbane

I still believe that the best option is a new stadium in Olympic Park. The tigers, rabbits and bulldogs have their highest average attendance when playing at stadium Australia, a 35k stadium would be perfect for these 3 teams as it's the most centrally located venue for all fans.

Then they'll need to develop a fanbase from all over the nth , not just a few suburbs around moreton bay. They won't play at 11K capacity QLD cup standard venues , its beyond stupid.

According to them they plan to play 7 games at Suncorp and 5 split between Dolphin Stadium and Sunshine Coast Stadium each season.

In other words a team that could/should be averaging 20-25k plans to play effectively half their games in tiny Qld cup standard venues.

Haha.
Isn't Dolphin Stadium 10k capacity?
Most bush towns have a ground that big.
What a joke.

Why they should not have been the choice, but news ltd gets what news ltd wants! Redcliffe only holds less than 12k, with virtually none under cover and very few corporate boxes. They aren’t playing many games in a stadium of that scope if they still want to be around in a few years! If they can’t generate a new fanbase from across the city then it’s been a waste of time putting a New club in brisbane.

Small region? There is 470,000 in MBRC, which is outside of Brisbane plus a further 350,000 on the Sunshine Coast - they don't need Brisbane's separate population to have a large fanbase or a need to play outside of their catchment area to create a fan base until their home stadiums are enlarged (Sunshine Coast stadium is planned to be 25,000 and Redcliffe's Kippa-Ring stadium of 11,500 will grow over time as well). Lang Park will only be a stop gap until then for corporate more than anything else.

That’s like saying there’s 850k people in the northern sydney region so manly should have no problem filling brookvale every game!

dolphin stadium has no plans for the $250mill it would need spending on it to get it to nrl standard. There talking about spending less than $50mill on SC stadium and given its current state that isn’t going to turn it into a quality modern stadium is it?
the fact the bid thinks playing games in 12k stadiums is a good idea shows how flawed it is. Oh well there’s always the pokies to fall back on when the revenue doesn’t quite come in lol.

I’d hazard there’ll still be more storm fans in SC than Dolphins fans for many years to come. it’s been proven that playing the odd game somewhere doesn’t build a massive fanbase in that area.

Not sure if the Kogarah plan has already been posted in here?

In November 2020 the NSW government announced funding to prepare the business case for the $200 million transformations of Netstrata Jubilee Stadium – as part of its suburban stadium's strategy.

The business case is underway and the NSW government is working with Georges River Council to plan and deliver a new community experience that will not simply be a football ground but a community and recreational precinct for future generations.

Transformation of the stadium precinct will include new grandstands and a rectangular field for use by all football codes, an aquatic facility with 50m and 25m indoor pools and health and wellness facilities such as hydrotherapy and rehabilitation services. The upgraded stadium will cater for local grassroots football right through to professional and international fixtures.

Multi-purpose indoor courts will cater for the high local demand for basketball, table tennis and badminton courts and will complement the expanded home for Kogarah Community Services and a special needs child care centre.

Over 800 basement car parking spaces will provide parking on game day and for entertainment, concerts, cultural events and local markets which will offer year-round activities alongside the new exhibition and cultural space, the Legends Walk and a Sporting Hall of Fame.

The football communities of Georges River, Dragons and Sky Blue supporters, local swimmers, basketballers and community groups call on the NSW government and local members Chris Minns MP, Steve Kamper MP and Mark Coure MP to support the Council's vision and transform the precinct for utilisation by all sporting codes, both amateur and professional.
