Shame that the proposal to build a stadium at Central never went anywhere. The SCG Trust is an absolute cancer on Sydney sport. Rabbitohs, tigers, dragons could have used the central stadium and the Roosters etc. could have stayed at their Moore park paradise.View attachment 65289
Agreed
Not just easier for fans to get too but after the game the city would benefit hugely from fans spending on restaurants etc

With regards to Canberra Stadium, at very least, the immediate priority is a refurb similar to what has been announced for AAMI Park in Melbourne this week, though it would require Federal funding (they are the landlords via the Sport Australia agency anyway). Long term would be building a new stadium then converting Canberra Stadium into an AFL/Cricket ground as per the master plan for Canberra's stadiums

I think the biggest thing is trying to reduce the wind and other elements. It can get absolutely freezing there.

The state has a lot of things on its plate and if it’s Labour that wins the next election they will be aiming at better pay/conditions for nurses (fair enough too considering what the health sector has been through with COVID) as well as teachers. That’s how Labour win elections as that is their core base. They also have the transport strikes that are going on atm which needs to be resolved.

Let’s be honest, football stadiums will be the last thing on their mind
thats not the NRLs problem
theres always a lot on every govt's plate ...
123 Bill committed by this govt & all we asked for is the 300 mill promised .. a spit in the bucket , a rounding off error
almost nothing really

this govt signed a deal & reneged & a gentlemen's agreement where vlandys took parrotturd at his word was also broken , Its Vlandys job to ensure our code is not treated like this & disrespected so willfully.

a good article here

Exactly. You could have probably serviced every team on the eastern side of the city. Totally stupid

I just went through every Sydney side in the competition and the only sides over an hour from Central is Penrith and Tigers (if they based themselves at Campbelltown)

Surely a government wanting to reduce costs would have looked favourably on this. Obviously the SCG Trust but everybody else should have

Too much self interest, from NRL, its clubs, and NSW govt pandering to the SCG Trust. Would have taken vision and some balls, sadly something pollies are known for lacking.

It’s such a shame. You could have potentially had three stadiums. Central Station, Bankwest and one in 20-30 years servicing the south west.

NSW government on last legs trying reward developer donors to the end with central plan.

Stadium concept there a few years back just stupid too. Think how expensive stadiums are & then build one ontop of ur busiest train station

Brisbane is building a new entertainment centre over roma street train station which is the busiest train station. And it’s not like the stadium would have been the only thing built at central if it was to go ahead.

Not wasting 500 million (which it will be with all costs) on stadium that has only one tenant.

I was talking about the fact that the opposition have literally stated that they are not going to spend money on anything. That equals zero. Zilch. Nothing.

Again, what is your alternative if the opposition get in and they are not spending money on any stadiums? Seeing you are a proponent on every Sydney team playing at some small ground.

Exactly. You build stadiums and infrastructure where the most amount of people can access it

Tigers built own performance center. Let clubs renovate grounds

Yeah because we don’t want facilities that most people can access. You would have been building one stadium as opposed to asking the government to build and upgrade four (Brookvale, SFS, Shark Park, Leichhardt (🤣)
