I'd say East stand will be knocked down and rebuilt, the western side was extended 10-12 years ago but it honestly needs demolishing as well, the majority of it is still the bones of that old balls stand.

300 million it’ll be a total rebuild

Never in doubt

Obviously this is a rebuild of their current ground

Is this anywhere officially? And has anyone got the link to the Rothfield article? I'm doubtful of the veracity.

Buzz just doesn't break news stories anymore (Luke Brooks to the Cowboys, for example).

A stadium getting a permit, being designed and starting construction in less then 18 months, is also ambitious.

It’d be good to get Suncorp to 60k bit hard to see govt stumping up the significant $’s it would take when there’s not really a need for the Olympics

wed be better lobbying for a Redcliffe or Ipswich 30k stadium for future nrl club use.

it’s been nearly 4 years since qlnd put the bid together, why’s it taken arlc this long to ask for something?
We do need to get better at lobbying as a sport. I wonder if FIFA has a minimum capacity requirement for the Olympic Football final. This could help push a capacity increase. I think Suncorp should have been 60k from the beginning TBH

Panthers want to "relocate" to Las Vegas for a couple of years while their new stadium is being built

PayPal stadium in San Jose have a brilliant corporate area idea - they are around the field under the seating areas. This allows virtually all the seating to be for spectators. It is 3 sided with the largest outdoor bar area in the USA at one end. It cost $100m US to build in 2014.

Permit isn’t ambitious if it’s simply replacing the current one with a similar footprint. Design probably isn’t either if someone like Populous is doing it and it’s a fairly standard design, flat roof, single tier all the way around etc.

I can't imagine that's a huge impediment though- local council is just a lower tier of state government after all.

Local council isn't part of Government. It is a direct representative that we initially chose for us to Government. People that call council Government have no bleeding clue. Imagine if Governments could literally just raise a motion and then rubber stamp it with a show of hands on the spot? We would be living in tyranny within the week ffs!

Councils should never ever be changed to be part of Government and it is bad enough that they have merged smaller ones into mega councils so as to yield more power and we have even less knowledge of what they do and even less representation. There was even a suggestion at one stage to just do away with State Governments and just have Councils take over all their duties and work with the Feds directly. Wow wouldn't that turn out well for us and lead to a fairer and more equitable system of governance? NOT!!!

Problem with that design is corporates get wet if it rains and the boxes are low down and dont afford the best view. Might be fine in the desert where it doesnt rain and for a sport that isnt able to flog boxes at $20k a time, but for NRL less so.

What the heck are you talking about? Fact is the states pre-date Federation, and if you look at the Commonwealth Constitution it says that it is formed by the current 6 states. Local councils in Australia have always been under the auspices of the states as their is no power for the Federal Parliament to legislate about local government. Anyway I'll leave it there as if we both go on about it, I think we will take this thread off topic too much :)

Maybe Penrith's stadium design could be a mixture combination of Cbus stadium and PayPal.
