Perfect location would be Eastern Creek in my opinion.

Build a 35,000 stadium near the race track.

19 mins from Parra
18 mins from Penrith
30 mins from Campbelltown
30mins from Leichhardt
At junction M4 and M7

Play
- all Panthers games
- 8 Parra games (including all WS derbies), other 4 at PS
- 8 tigers games (including all WS derbies), 2 Campbelltown, 2 Leichhardt
- 4 dogs games (inclu all WS derbies)
- however many wanderers games

Make it 52,000 - like Suncorp.

Without posting pictures of stadia like Allianz Arena I think this is a reasonable, affordable and effective kind of design that could work well.

MONTPELLIER - Stade de la Mosson (32,939):

Parra stadium dilapidated?? Since f**king when??

it didn't say PS is dilapidated. It was referring to suburban grounds which aren't controlled by the NSW government. They're owned/operated by local councils. PS is owned by Events NSW.

The issue is PS will be too small to accommodate both the Eels, and more so, the Wanderers in the very near future. The venue is a year round facility now with regard to large numbers of community patrons and investment in a 35-40k venue in western sydney is extremely viable. A Western SYdney A-league team was what was required because such a venue will have year long use by patrons.

Location of such a facility needs to be central and easily accessible to a large proportion of the western sydney citizens. it's not just a matter of putting it in a geographic middle of the region, such as eastern creek. It will also require the building of rail infrastructure close to it's door step with links to lines towards campbelltown, penrith, richmond & parramatta/strathfield. eastern creek is practically no mans land at the mo.

Its about as good a location as you'll get to service Parra and Penrith. Would it be worth keeping Parra stadium in its current config if they only play 4 games there or would you have it downgraded to reduce maintenance? Same case even moreso with Campbelltown and Leichardt if they were to play 2 games apiece.

Would this work in theory (forgive my lack of Sydney knowledge)?

83 500 seater ANZ - Souths (12), Dogs (4), marquee games
40 000 seater SFS - Roosters (12), Tigers (4)
30 000 seater at Eastern Creek - Penrith (12), Parra (12)
30 000 seater at Liverpool - Tigers (8), Dogs (8)
20 000 seater between Kogarah and Cronulla - Sharks (12), Dragons (6)
3 000 seater at Brookvale - Manly (12) :sarcasm:

Problem is there is only going to be ONE new stadium if at all and it will be west of Homebush.

Something that can service Bulldogs across to Penrith would be ideal (if possible).

Why is Penrith the only club to have to give up all of their games for this new ground?

You state later that Penrith v Gold Coast in a 52,000 stadium will look shit in Western Sydney, having Penrith play these types of games at Centrebet Stadium will fix that.

I' also interested in the logica behind having the Bulldogs play only 4 games at this new ground which includes the WS derbies against Penrith, Parramatta and the Wests Tigers. Are the Bulldogs playing all their low drawing games? ... at a bigger venue in ANZ? .. That makes no sense.

Although I think your location sounds as close to spot on as I have seen so far. It still seems to be too far away from Campbelltown.

All three clubs in the firing line here - Wests, Penrith and Parramatta - are going to be pissed if they have to move. I find it funny that Parramatta are the ones who are keen given the future of their stadium is fairly safe compared to Penrith and Wests.

If a really kick-ass stadium could be developed at Eastern Creek though (I fully agree with the above posters, it's the perfect compromise location for the three of them) then you could possibly entice all three to commit to it.

The one that sprung to mine for me as a template was Forsyth Barr Stadium, built in Dunedin for the Rugby World Cup. The ACT Government was looking at something similar for the Raiders and Brumbies prior to the last election, when it got shelved in preference for re-developing Bruce/doing nothing because the Greens want light rail.

The-Forsyth-Barr-Stadium-Dunedin.jpg

As you can see, it has a clear roof ideal for day or night games, clean sightlines and seats 30,700. Would be an ideal facility for those three clubs.

It also only cost 198 million New Zealand dollars. That's like what, fifty bucks?

I cant see how eastern creek could be a serious option with the lack of public transport.

If we build any new stadiums they should be built right next door to a train station , preferably on a major line.

The new stand at nib has got a 350 person BBQ terrace in it, nice place to watch the game and enjoy a steak!

I do agree with you. It doesn't change the fact that it's the best geographic location for a stadium.

In the event a stadium were built there, a train line would be needed to service it.

The option there is to move it slightly to Blacktown Olympic Park, which has a train station.

Sure , geographically it's probably the best.

But when you're talking about bringing 3 fan groups together at one stadium public transport is more important than location.

No way the state government goes for building a new rail line either.

One of the teams fans would just have to travel a little further.

Eastern creek may sound like a great place. But transport wise it is terrible. You would need to train and bus it out there. It would just not work
