Future NRL Stadiums

That would be f*cking terrible...

Even if, by some miracle, you convince some idiot to part with the $2billion needed to build these, the transport to all of these places would still be abysmal. Thats the problem with "Suburban" stadiums. You are literally in a suburb!! These places arent designed for 30k people to come and go in an afternoon on top of the regular traffic.

Rather than 9 shitty stadiums, make 2 or 3 well placed grounds the best that they can be (including transport to and from...). Also, centralised grounds would make it much easier to bring in neutral fans, when its a stadium/area they know and are comfortable with...

I disagree...you upgrade what we currently have.

Parra are getting a new stadium

Penrith, Manly Tigers and Cronulla get decent upgrades to 20-25,000 boutique stadiums.

Canterbury play at Homebush

Roosters at SFS, Souths either SFS or Homebush

Saints need to have Kogarah turned into a rectangular ground or leave to Wollongong.

There is 2billion in the kitty, I'm sure with smart spending this could be achieved.

Once this is done the NRL plays all Sydney games on a Sunday bar one on a Friday night, big drawing games are shifted to the larger capacity stadiums. Night games are filled by outer Sydney clubs when they play the Sydney sides.

This is how we will average 20,000 plus.

This belief Sydney can't sustain them is BS, and a defeatist attitude. WE are the number one game in Sydney and have designs to match the AFL. The culture of the game is to play in your area because of the way Sydney is spread out.

For example here is Round 23 from last year:

I would play these games as follows:

Friday night:
Brisbane v Melbourne
Roosters v Canterbury

Saturday:
Canberra v Newcastle
Souths v North Qld

Saturday night:
Warriors v Gold Coast

Sunday:
Manly v St.George
Parramatta v Cronulla
Tigers v Penrith

When the game expands Sunday can have 4 and 5 games.

Its best to look at how these suburban grounds get funded

Brookvale is local concil

Cronulla's developer probably wants to knock it down and build more granny flats

Who owns Penrith ? council or the LC

Who owns Parramatta?

Boutique stadiums will build attendances.

Supporters of Penrith, Manly and Cronulla will not pack Homebush.

So when will transport access from the north improve ??

Sorry until Strathfield and Central are serviced by a regular train service from Olympic Park nothing changes

It is easier to walk 45 min from Rhodes than catch a train

When (if) the aforementioned metro line is built.
Probably about 10 years off.

Couple of problems,
one stadiums like panthers, Cronulla etc need around $150-200mill spending on them to get them to anything like modern sports ground fit for the next 30 years. St's, panthers, sharks and manly makes $600-800mill needed.

Next, these grounds are not owned by the nsw govt so why should the nsw govt pay for them? And if the nsw govt doesn't then who will? Clubs and councils certainly won't have the sort of money needed. Fair play to manly who tried to show the council how they could do,or by developing some of the land but that soon got cold water poorer on it.

Third, if clubs are going to build 20k plus crowds and 30-40,000 memberships they need to be embraced by city wide populations, not local suburbs. Geographically isolating yourself into a region of sub 200k people is going to see those clubs fall significantly behind big city clubs.

The end goal for this stadium from an NRL perspective should be to host home games for a number of teams , but mostly for out of Sydney away teams.

Big Sydney derby's need to be outgrowing this stadium & should be held at a revamped ANZ.

Only Sunday arvo games have the potential to need to be there. Our timeslots don't allow for huge crowds now

Cronulla's developer has enough building on its plate, and knocking down Shark Park is not one of them.

The redevelopment of Shark Park is part of the long term plans for the club.

$800,000 to $1m plus granny flats LOL.

Where's the $200mill coming from? If you put aside your $800-1mill a year income then you'll have a new stadium sometime around 2216.

Penrith is a suburb, no one owns it.

$200m ??? Another figure you plucked out of the air. No wonder Brexit is one complete cluster*ck.
We are not buying a F35 fighter jet FFS.

You obviously have not registered , there are shared profits from sales of units. In addition to rental income.Plus a refurbished Leagues club.Plus an additional 200 units over retail are on the drawing board , which may or may not get approval.

Firstly the extension of the ET Stand to the Southern stand is planned , and will incorporate a Centre of Excellence .Because it is a CofE , it will get Govt backing on a dollar for dollar basis.

Then the following is planned. The extension of the Peter Burns Stand with the Southern Stand, and the extension North of the E.T stand.
There is no intention to have a stand where the current Hill is situated ALA CC Stadium.

Should get it done well before the Pirates get in, in 2216.
Ciao baby.

So basically patching up an out of date antiquated stadium. You're right that won't cost $200mill but nor will it deliver a modern stadium. It needs a new main stand $80-90mill going on nib redevelopment prices and a new standnto replace the hill $20-30mill. And that's before you look at the crap stand on the league clubs side. Stadiums should be Min capacity 25k with 18k undercover seats if it is to be used for NRL games.

Good luck raising that money. You do know that the projected development income is about on par with your annual losses don't you? Best behoping for that NRL grant increase.

You need to show a bit more respect when you address the fans of The Premiers.

Oh ...and don't come to our home ground
We won't care less .

LOL.
You have shown as much ignorance re cover at the ground as it currently stands, to treat you seriously. You assumed the P Burns stand had cover. You make trolls look good.Must have got teh trots after eating a pie at the ground.
BTW NIB is patched up looking stadium.Modern is hardly he term I would use.
If you haven't seen the future plans, how the hell do you know how it will end up FFS. Patching up LOL.

You decide what the capacity should be ,better tell the NRL.

You do understand that the profits from the unit development will be upwards of $45m.Plus the rental income $1m pa, plus Leagues club income from a refurbished premises, plus a potential profit on 200 extra units on the retail site.
Oh and the possibility of an A League team.

But you go on,always good for a laugh.

PS You will be pleased to know merchandise sales continue to go through the roof. That happens when you are Premiers, more so when you wait 50 years.
Perhaps a 50 year wait for your mob, might ram some commonsense into you.
