You're right

The captain of nsw and cronulla publicly stating after his team has failed to score for umpteenth time in a row that it's all the coaches fault is no big deal

Nothing to see here people move along

Sharp doesn't want to be coach and said it numerous times.
He said to newspaper journo's and TV reporters.

That's a nice way build the players confidence ..,

Gallens right.
If he can't say it then who can?

Besides , what he actually said and what some of the numbski's on here
are claiming he said are two different things .

If bad fortune befell Bellamy for 12 months there's no reason Smith or Cronk couldn't coach the team from the paddock, Lyon the same for Toovey. Gallen has to put in instead of tossing it in

Bloody poor form from Gallen. Even the Warriors players didn't resort to knifing Elliot in public.

'ah really coach do we have too'

'You've got lunchtime detention'

The extension was definitely based more on emotion rather than logic....

At the time that Flanno was sighted and suspended, the extension was a great show of solidarity, but now its more dead-weight than anything. 2014 was written off from the start and im not sure the next few years will be any different.

The board "promised" to do certain things when they went to the election, after conning most of the members, without even knowing what went on with the ASADA crap.

Instead of making the right decision to cut him loose & wipe the slate clean, they wanted to save face & now we are forced to live on with this for 3 more years. I predict we will be gone by then. The club is now at breaking point.

The hardworking old board got ousted but Flanno will be back. Call me cynical but I think Flanno was resigned to avoid legal action. I reckon he & the club came to an "agreement".

Poor sharkies.

This is why RL players give such boring interviews. Whenever someone goes off script the universe has a meltdown.

Another gallen bashing thread.

Unless you are part of what is going on at cronulla you can't really sit in judgement of him.

Everyone in this thread including me has no idea and the comments mean nothing.

When he was appointed they (Locke, Johnson etc) did...hopefully they were told pretty quickly to shut up after that.

Got no issue with what Gal said. Good, honest interview from a passionate man who wants more out of his club.

This situation is tailor-made for a patented Ricky-Stuart-Rebuild. Expect him to be poached by the Sharks for 2015

A coach who gives a shit, and will actually get rid of underperforming players rather than continually gifting them starts, andchange the entire systems within the team.

wouldnt these systems be flanagans? i dont imagine sharp has tried to change too much

The BOARD is to blame.

They have literally made every wrong decision in terms of managing the Club.

pretty much. unfortunately its been one crisis to another with the sharks since the asada thing rboke

Peter sharp publicly said he didn't want to be coach.

He was made coach

This is the boards fault.
Not Sharp. Not Gallen.

Damian Keogh. Steve Noyce. The rest of the management.

This is on them.

I still think the players and coach have some responsibility. plenty of players havent seen eye to eye with their coaches int heir careers, doesnt mean they dont put in the effort. and the board is f**ked for putting someone who keeps saying he didnt want the job - but not only that, no one is holding a knife to Sharp's throat making him coach

This is why RL players give such boring interviews. Whenever someone goes off script the universe has a meltdown.

its more the fact he's openly bagging the coach and refusing to take any responsibility for the poor performances of the playing group.

Ricky can come back and finish what he started. he's due for a new club soon

I blame the joke that is called ASADA. About two years ago we were told that drugs were rife throughout the sport, and hey have targeted Cronulla. And here we are, still no convictions, not arrests - nothing but a sacked coach and a big black cloud hanging over a club.

That's pretty hard to deal with. I say defund ASADA.

Open slather, huh?

The club couldn't punt Flanno.

The players would have chucked an utter wobbly

They imported "boys club" players from penrith & WT and expected anything different?

Paul Gallan is pretty blunt, has suggested that interim coach Peter Sharp is not giving 100%. He also floated the idea of getting Brett Kimmorly from Canberra to coach the sharks mid year. The only problem for the Sharks is a upcoming coach to be offered only a temporary gig when the team is traveling so badly may not be such an attractive proposition. Considering if the team does not go well under their tenure, it could be a blotch on their resume.

Also the legal problems that the Sharks players/club is investigated for may make it harder to get someone to take over the reins from Sharp.

Cronulla captain Paul Gallen says it is not too late to replace interim head coach Peter Sharp with an up-and-comer for the rest of the season, arguing that players were not giving their all "because they're under the impression that Sharpie isn't putting 100 per cent in".

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...-sharp-should-be-replaced-20140622-zsi0c.html

I'm sorry but this shit is just ridiculous. You hear comments like this thrown around all the time when a side is going poorly. You hear things like the coach has lost the dressing room and he can't get the players motivated, etc...I'm sorry but what a f**king cop out.

These are professional athletes. If they're playing FG they should have enough drive and desire to know they need to put in and do it for themselves and their fans...they shouldn't need a coach to tell them that. If Gallen thinks he and his teammates aren't putting in 100% each game then they aren't professional footballers and they need to be asking themselves why and not taking a shot at the coach as an excuse.

This says way more about them than it does about Sharp.

Can't wait for this baboon to retire in obscurity.
I really can't understand why he is considered captain material.

He lost my respect when leading up to Origin 1 this year he started taking shots at Jarrod Mullen on television saying he doesn't deserve to play Origin. I mean it's fair enough for him to talk up the player he wanted selected (Reynolds) but he didn't have to do it by publicly shitting on another player. Completely unprofessional...by the state's captain of all people.
