Gallan wants a new coach

Paul Gallan is pretty blunt, has suggested that interim coach Peter Sharp is not giving 100%. He also floated the idea of getting Brett Kimmorly from Canberra to coach the sharks mid year. The only problem for the Sharks is a upcoming coach to be offered only a temporary gig when the team is traveling so badly may not be such an attractive proposition. Considering if the team does not go well under their tenure, it could be a blotch on their resume.

Also the legal problems that the Sharks players/club is investigated for may make it harder to get someone to take over the reins from Sharp.

Cronulla captain Paul Gallen says it is not too late to replace interim head coach Peter Sharp with an up-and-comer for the rest of the season, arguing that players were not giving their all "because they're under the impression that Sharpie isn't putting 100 per cent in".

He has a point, Sharpy is well past his used-by date in terms of being a coach.

The Sharks must be thrilled that at least their captain courageous Paul Gallen is putting in 100% (for NSW)

Make Gallen a captain/coach so he can see it's not so easy... & let his team mates openly critise him in the media.

What a surprise this bloke hadn't won a thing in his life until last week, and probably wouldn't have won anything his whole career if Cronk didn't break his arm

Sharks is a boys club, no way in the world Flanno should have been resigned, complete grub but his one of the boys.

Gordon, Carney, FiFita, Lewis, Gallen, plenty of talent but all playing like shit, exspically Carney, flys under the radar on big cash these days needs a foot up the arse.

.to me players are like schoolkids. If you can get away with a little bit you're going to. If you know your team can turn up Monday and your coach isn't going to rouse on you for not having a good game, I don't think you're going to put 100 per cent in.

I far that bizarre. You'd think the contracts on the live that depend on their form would be a motivation more than getting told of by the coach.

Peter sharp publicly said he didn't want to be coach.

He was made coach

Shane Flanagan is at the centre of possibly the biggest crisis the club has ever faced and is banned from the club by the league til November.

He was given a 3 year extension

So you can't get an interim guy in. Or move on.

This is the boards fault.
Not Sharp. Not Gallen.

Damian Keogh. Steve Noyce. The rest of the management.

This is on them.

I feel bad for Sharp.

Gallen is a total f**k up, he has just made this situation 100% worse. If the players aren't listening to the coach, why make it worse and publicly rubbish the coach? Absolute nuffy.

This year was a write-off for the Sharks before it even began, wouldn't hurt to be professional about it though like the Storm were in 2010 playing for no points.

Exactly right, Peter Sharp's a bad coach, but it's not like they couldn't at least try, the Storm would have made the finals in 2010 if they'd been awarded points. Cronulla have withdrawn into their shells and decided to sook instead of playing hard and being professional about it. And that's without even knowing what their punishment will be, the Storm knew theirs and it was for their year to be worth nothing, yet they still turned up to play. Completely different cultures.

A classic case of a playing group making a scapegoat out of their coach. I call it Furner syndrome.

One bloke says one sentence to a bloody comedy act on radio and it is " the playing group "?

Deadset .
I have read thousands of posts from people on here bagging the shit out of
the job their teams coach does but when Gallen does it , he's the biggest merkin on earth.

You're right

The captain of nsw and cronulla publicly stating after his team has failed to score for umpteenth time in a row that it's all the coaches fault is no big deal

Nothing to see here people move along
