Maybe not of the highest relevance, but still how many winning teams has Paul Gallen been part of over the last couple of seasons? the guy may have impressive individual stats, but his team's consistently lose. Apparently this isn't at all his fault? despite the fact that he often makes handling mistakes and gives away penalties. If he's so good then why is his WIN/LOSS ratio in the last 2 seasons at the Sharks 12 WINS/36 LOSSES. 25% win ratio

Luke Lewis deserved the lock of the year award. The only reason Gallen polled so well is because he stands out so much in a very ordinary Sharks side.

Again, Paul Gallen stands out in all sides he plays in - Sharks, NSW and Australia. Luke Lewis did deserve his award, his early and mid season form was excellent.

People I Know constantly say Paul Gallen seems to be one of the top players in the NRL. How can anyone not see that he is one of the most overrated players currently playing the game! I will give him some credit he does do a lot of work but that is only because he is playing in such a terrible sub standard team that he does the majority of the work and therefore looks a lot better than he is; it is a lot easier to look good in a team full of nobodies than it is to stand out playing in a team full of rep players.

I am constantly amazed that he seems to be selected in representative sides on a regular basis over other more deserving team players.

He made the most metres this year out of all the players in the NRL. Says something.

I haven't the time nor the inclination to read the previous 7 pages of this thread and I don't particularly like Paul Gallen. Having said that, credit where credit is due he is a terrific rugby league player who would be an asset to any side. His total commitment and work ethic is second to none and you have to respect that. He is a great player, that there is no doubt.

I don't know who is Steve Edge is.
Guys, give a kid a break. Not everyone is an old codger like EA ffs!

Jared, Steve Edge was a Dragons hooker from their glory years of the early 1960s. He was a tough hooker with sublime ball skills and a great left boot - once landed a 60m drop goal at Henson Park. Having a Welsh mother, he captained Wales to their 1953 World Cup win while playing for Castleford in the UK after his Dragons stint ended. Sadly, injury cut short his career and he retired long before his time after only 122 first grade games. He came back to Australia, coached NSW for 3 seasons in tbe late 1960's, and retired to Nowra before he suffered a stroke and died in 72.

And to you bastards who know that story and bagged Jared for hoestly not knowing something from history - shame on you. We should be sharing our history amd making our game stronger!

That's bullsh!t and you know it Loud.

The field goal was only 55 metres.

Granted it was into a strong south easter.

Cheers

Bullsh*t Quigs. The King George V stand used to block out the sou-easters at Henson, just as the westerlies were blocked whenever Mick Liubinskas parked his Kombi in the car park behind the goalposts.

Anyway, if you know anything about history, Edge was first receiver. Frank Hyde played the ball on Saints 40m line to Ziggy Nicscot at dummy half. That's 65m from Egde to the posts - and straight through the windscreen on Liubinskas' kombi!

That would be because of the key players they lost ( Bird, Seymour, Anderson, Kimmorley to name a few ) after they lost the major semi 2 seasons back, that year they also finished tied 1st on points but 3rd on points difference. Add to that all there of field drama the last 2 years and it's little wonder they have struggled.
I would take Gallen at the Warriors in a heartbeat!!!
