I think you don't fully understand the concept of rigidity - it's more than just Paulo's minutes stats.I've just shown you why the bench isn't rigid. So your theory is flawed from the start.

I agree with you mate. For all the sack BA talk that is constantly thrown up on here, who do you replace him with?Problem is the only coaches left with a proven record are Hasler and Flanagan who are as popular as China at the moment. I'm done with rookies.

Yeah he may well be - especially before Lane is back .... tho when Lane is back too I think Doorey might be capable of holding up one edge, he has been ok ... so i would see matto coming off the bench in the middle as he did last year with good effectWhenever Matto returns surely he will be on an edge? He’s better than Doorey and Cartwright
Yeah im wondering if hopgood might be seen as an option at dummy half for a small part of games .... tho i would much rather we had a decent 14Maybe Hopgood for 10 minutes at some stage?
The scary thing is, i wonder if the great Trent might be seen as an optionI agree with you mate. For all the sack BA talk that is constantly thrown up on here, who do you replace him with?

I think what Happy Meel means is that if Russell is out for the year, we might be able to apply to remove him from the top 30, which means we have to re-fill spot 29. Give that to Cini and we still have spot 30 remaining.
Doesn't instill much confidence or belief in his bench players either.I dont think, in BAs mind, there is ever a time when he dosent "need them" on the field. When your D is as average as ours we are forever chasing points. A self defeating prophecy.
Unsure if this has been posted, but here goes anyway.
Am I right in saying when we had Matto and Oregon on the bench our two SOO props played less minutes. Now we don’t, BA is preferring to play a tired Reg/Jnr than an ordinary Emu or Makka ? Man we have zero depth right now across the park.

Speaking after the match, Arthur was asked about his bench rotation against the Sharks, which seemed to mirror the approach he took the week before.
As a result two players failed to take the field in the club's opening two rounds, leaving the team's props on the field for extended periods on the field.
Against the Sharks, front rowers Junior Paulo played 57 minutes and Reagan Campbell-Gillard played 65 minutes.
Substitute Wiremu Greig played didn't take the field and Makahesi Makatoa was in the action for only 13 minutes. Jirah Momoisea played 23 minutes.
In Round 1, Makatoa stayed on the bench the entire match and the golden point period, while Greig and Momoisea combined for only 40 minutes.
It's the not the first time Arthur's bench tactics have come under the microscope, with the Eels coach carrying his son Jake on the bench for most of the season in 2022, despite the 20-year-old holding no utility value outside of playing in the halves.
When asked why he had Paulo and Campbell-Gillard on the field for almost an hour against the Sharks, Arthur said:
"We've got a lot of good players that start for us in Junior and Reg and I think they're pretty important to the team," he told reporters in the post-match press conference.
"I think we need them, especially in tight games like tonight, we need them on the field for long periods.
Thats what is stupid. He picks 4 forwards but plays 3. effen pick a proper 14 at least to cover josh or the backs.Yeah im wondering if hopgood might be seen as an option at dummy half for a small part of games .... tho i would much rather we had a decent 14
I’m sure it doesn’t happen without detailed discussion with the players, assistants and med staff. They wear smart gear that provides lives stats on their vitals. Not saying that it is ideal, but as others said yesterday we are trying to get through a rough patch. Matto is out. Brown and Lane are injured. Makka Rodwell and Emu are ineffective.I dont think, in BAs mind, there is ever a time when he dosent "need them" on the field. When your D is as average as ours we are forever chasing points. And they will always remain so given the Coach's obvious lack of confidence in these guys. We were lucky with injurys to forwards last year. Hopefully we are lucky again. Anyway he got us to a GF so I guess it works. That said the argument is "is it sustainable"? Lets see if we make the GF this year. The Manly game will be huge. We could potentially be bottom of the ladder after next week. Time to rally boys.I’m sure it doesn’t happen without detailed discussion with the players, assistants and med staff. I would pick rein out hands even if he doesn't get a run
