I just rewatched the game.
We should just work on defense over and over.
I asked sixties at tct, it's not that impressive during training attacking against our reggies team when he's creaming over our attack at tct during preseason. If our bench is shit, our reggies would be worse so of course our nrl guys should kill it against them. Play me against a bunch of 10yo and i would look impressive
What we should do is train with our left side attacking our rhs defense and vice versa rhs attack again lhs defense.
So those holes that opened up can be overcome as they have quality attackers running plays at them in training instead of rankin and whoever the 7 was when ja filled in for the nrl team at training. So they get better at communicating again quality attack at speed.
After fixing our defense, just focus on offloads.
In the sharks game, we were really good Offloading. It's when we get our opposition at 6s and 7s.
Without ice and marata, we don't really have a power game no more after reg and jnr puts on a run
When hopgood offloads, carty offloads and gutho too, we make meters galore.
Then throw in junz, matto, Lane and even nrown, we have offloaders by the dozens
We have shit middles after our props come off, bring in nrown, matto, carty in the middle too just run, offload, together with hopgood to make our meters instead of power game from the likes of maka, murch et al
Get rid of the clearing kicks to the rhs over and over. Our kick chase is shit and we can't seem to trap them in their quarters after a few plays as our defensive linespeed is gone.
I'd rather mitch practice and practice the spiral bombs.
Stand deeper and put them up even if they don't go further than the conventinal kick to the right corner. If the fb is too deep, he'll struggle to get to it. If a non specialist has to catch it coz fb is out of position, then good luck if it's a spiral. It also can bring the fb and wingers up and if mitch sees that, kick it deep. Mix it up instead of the same thing over and over
