Absolutely ridiculous comment.I agree that since Brown, the Dragons have been atrocious at bringing through young players. But the very well founded idea is that it's bad idea to bring in young players, especially young forwards too quickly. Would it have done Host's confidence any good to have been out there yesterday? Do you think he could have changed the result? If he were a 5/8, 1/2 or hooker I would also be on the brink of a coronary and I agree he should have been brought in sooner. Both he and Leilua but as things stand, leaving him out in favor of Matthews or LAM or Leilua was the correct decision. Even in hindsight.
Next year I expect he will be a regular, week in week out, first-grader.
The season is done and dusted and has been for weeks if you are a realist.
This is exactly the right time to blood young players because if they f**k up it actually has no real impact on the club and it gives us precious time to sit and show these youngsters where they went wrong (if in fact they do).
Its actually better than anything you can do pre-season.
You then state next year he will be a regular first grader, so you somehow think 3 weeks more in the lower grades this year will prepare him for that.
As I said before you have NFI and it's the ongoing stupid philosophy like yours that holds this club back.
Do you think the Panthers would be going as well as they are if they had continued to hold Cartwright and Cleary back.
You have asked the question do I think he could have changed the result and that epitomises the dysfunctional nature of your arguement.
It was actually never about the result it was about a pathway for a young player and I would be happy to lose all 3 games that were left provided it was the inspiration for young players to want to play 1st grade and give them the incentive to work hard in the off season because they had a taste of it.
