Game Day v Storm

It was the best of times it was the worst of times....
A lot to like - young blokes having a dig and forwards doing their bit, but game management stinks.
Johnson I’ve got confidence in coming good but ole Chadwick is just bloody pedestrian - same ole same ole and even poor at that. He should really look to retire early and take up a role as media manager - he is great at that side of things but that’s it.
Refs were poor and penalty count in second half was poor but we had plenty of opportunities and failed to capitalise.
Another week and loss - as per King Bens photo of Chadwick / he looks about as perplexed as everyone else

Kennedy was good , Moylan can stay in the physio office. Thought the back three did their best with a total lack of help from their inside men and halves... f**k me it must be hard to play outside of Johnson... Nikora and Katoa seem the only people who can figure out where to run for him

Kennedy and Brailey I thought did themselves proud.. Uele great as always and Sorro next best forward (not very dangerous but works hard makes metres defends well no errors... The anti-WulliMs

Geez there is some hate in here.

Yeh be blew another game but at least we were in it to blow it.

We are noticeably playing a more attacking brand of footy & that will take time to come good.

Anyway, we ALWAYS start the season slowly, so I’m not too concerned.

My only concern is we won’t get the 25 rounds to run the marathon....it’ll be 1,500m.

There is quite a bit of frustration. That game was there to be won. Outplayed the Storm. Up by 6 inside the last 10. Cool hears and solid execution should close it out. But we came up with neither.

Fair point about starting seasons slow and we have played two good teams but is it a bad thing when supporters have high expectations of players on big money who are there to manage games and close out wins?

Johnson should drift over to the left and link with Tracey.

Brailey is also playing well.

I do, I did. SS and JR were simply not running the right lines, did not understand Johnson's passing, did not know who the passes were meant for, didn't try to run holes (credit to Melbourne who looked like had trained for SJ/BK combo and stuck with it to close those usual gaps down anyway) and both preferred the bash and barge style.

Sharks couldn't change it up to remedy the defensive strategy either. No Tracey and a 90% fit Graham nullified the left

Overall they did really well to be so committed to it for the full 70.

Doesn’t change that it was an excellent challenge.

Yes and the challenges will evolve to being used for a rest in the last 5-10 minutes for as long as the season goes on. Have seen several "ridiculously looking" challenges already this week and all can be attributed to getting defence set and having a good suck of air. They have rarely been about an error from the ref so far and when upheld they have brought little value.

Rule needs to be dumped. It's stupid

Expectation is too high. Only 2 survivors from 2016. Choc full of rookies who are making fatigue errors as they adjust. New style and new game plan. Missing 316 games of experience with the Glass Twins on the sideline. Missing the potential of Bronwyn. One legged prop. No Gallen. No Prior. Morris disruption and pea heart efforts. Salary Cap pressure. Front office problems. Uprooted from home ground. COVID-19 scare with Bronwyn. No fans to help get them home (yeah applies to all teams) but with rookies playing they need that positive affirmation from fans.

Jack Williams

10-12 weeks if it goes that long before this side is halfway near it's best. Then they will flag under rookie season fatigue.

If they even scrape into the 8 it will be enormous.

11 posts about Klein. He did a good job. Get out of ya bubble
To be fair it’s just pure frustration not only at the game but everything else going on - agree though we had enough chances in the first half to put us in a commanding position but just couldn’t get there - that first tackle SJ error at the end of the first half said it all. And to lose to a Cameron Smith penalty goal is a bitter pill to stick up your backside

Yeah, I get it. It's just picking an easy target. I know, I do it all the time.

Jack Williams has learnt a target on his head for this year.

What an imposter.

Put Billy McGoo in instead.

I'm gonna paraphrase your post into a new nickname for Jackie

Jack Williams = Mirror Boy

After the disappointment of losing I thought the team had a real crack where a young team geez we nearly won turning point of the game when we lost Graham through injury...
