I only got it because of the talk of Sansa's necklace, which you see Olenna take a gem, then her walk away and hear a glass "ding" into the wine jug as she walks past Joffrey's table. Olenna and Little Finger must be in cahoots somehow.

I just watched that scene again to look for this. Well spotted.

The book readers don't 'know' who kill JoJo, though Olenna is strongly implied. But since GRRM is a consultant to the show, it more or less confirms it was her.

In the book I'm pretty sure Littlefinger explains it. Poison was in Sansa's hairnet which Olenna 'adjusted' at one point. Joffrey and Margaery were both drinking out of one cup. Margaery was in on it and didn't drink once the poison was in the cup. Which is why I find it silly that Margaery wasn't in on it in the show as it could have very easily gone wrong and she could have died.

My guess is the sword which he used to cut the cake was poisoned. Or the cake was already poisoned. Can't see it being from the wine as I think they had all drank from that bottle? Don't think I've ever got a prediction right on this show though lol.

I doubt it. Joffery happened to be the first to eat the cake but what if it had been someone else? Would have been a big fail as an assassination to have say Tywin eat it first and die, and then no-one else touches the cake. Unless there is some sort of custom that says until the king has finished the first slice of wedding cake no-one else can eat it then it would be a massive gamble, and I don't think the person behind it would take such a gamble somehow. It has to be the wine.

My mate got it on first viewing. Well he had two guesses, but went with the right one.

He got it simply because Joffrey drank from the cup, put it down right in front of the Queen of Thorns, then later picked it up again, drank and died. Olenna was realy the only one who could have done it without being seen.

After re-watching, I don't think the cup was ever in front of her, just the camera angle made it look that way.

The cup was always on Joffreys table, which to me suggest Margaery was in on it too, even though the last episode tried to make it look like she wasn't, thus setting up a decoy.

The words used in the convo between Margaery and her grandmother in the 3rd episode were chosen very carefully by the writers.

I only got it because of the talk of Sansa's necklace, which you see Olenna take a gem, then her walk away and hear a glass "ding" into the wine jug as she walks past Joffrey's table. Olenna and Little Finger must be in cahoots somehow.

I think you're right

Back on Jamie for a second why can't his character continue to commit morally ambiguous acts? I have seen sites claim this has ruined Jamie's character but Jamie has always been a morally ambiguous character as are all the Lannisters. Jamie and Sandor's storlines have changed over the last season but that does not erase their pasts. Danny probably escapes with the least amount of criticism for her atrocities like putting Astapor to the torch or her use of black magic.

It's not that. It's that he's never been a rapist, or a kinslayer. He wouldn't do that to his family.
Do not think that Daenarys escapes criticism. Oh no.

Yea the change from the books is disappointing but some places are saying it has ruined Jamie's character and fans will no longer be able to cheer for him. I think they will redeem Jamie next week judging by the preview.

http://www.burdekinherald.com/2014/04/23/pm-to-rename-treasurer-portfolio-master-of-coin/

The Prime Minister Tony Abbott this morning announced that the position Treasurer of the Commonwealth of Australia would be renamed Master of Coin. This is after it was revealed that Mr Abbott binge-watched fourteen episodes of Game of Thrones while on his recent tour of Asia.

Speaking at a press conference in Canberra early this morning the Prime Minister announced that Joe Hockey, Master of Coin, gladly accepted the position saying “I have only come to appreciate the history and tradition of Westeros. I think this move is fitting, in a way we can celebrate our combined heritage.”

The Prime Minister is also expected to announce that the position of Governor General will be renamed ‘Hand of the Queen’.

Can't remember if this was ever posted but it's pretty cool

Maybe better saved for the downtime between seasons, although I'm watching through this part tonight.

Apparently the TV Show reveals something not confirmed in the books yet this episode.

That sucks for us bookies.

They've reached the beginning of the filler. There's going to be a fair bit of it in the coming seasons until Martin finishes book 6.

Odd lack of discussion about this episode. I thought it was enjoyable enough.

Enjoyable episode, nice twist with John heading to Crasters with Bran there.

All in all a good episode.
