Moses the 1.25m dollar half needed to take control, yet again he didn’t. He’s a highlight reel player not an elite halfback. And to make it worse in the big moments he disappears quicker than Scomo in a crisis.
After watching him fold in almost every high pressure situation in the last 3-4 years including match awareness and tempo, it’s obvious he is a 5/8 , not a game controlling half. Unfortunately Brown isn’t a halfback either and I can’t see us winning anything while both are here.

Gee that Hopgood intercept was unlucky just re-watching the last 10 mins.

There was still 4 mins to go when hodgo got his walking frame over the line which was plenty of time when we were down by 2.

And we ended up scoring again anyway.

Manly were knackered with 10 mins to go and we let them score 2 tries.

Even though we scored 3 ourselves.

It was a pushed pass but done in the context of the game, and Olaukauatu was sweating on it. Hope Hopgood learns from it. He’s got a couple of excellent teachers in learning from past mistakes in Waqa and Bailey

we are talking about our defence under Arthur’s coaching, he has had 2 good years in 10 in that regard. Do you think it was a good decision to extend him at this time? What benefit is there to the club?
He got the extension due to meeting KPIs. My guess is it’s his 3YRWR above 60% that did it. It wouldn’t be his WPYSA18.

Reynolds, Cleary dont have 3 weeks straight goal kicking yips.

They might miss a couple crucial ones here and there but they make up for it either through clutch FGs or Goal kicking at 90-95% in other periods.

Moses has nailed one clutch kick in 5 years.
You could forgive him for last night if he was already kicking at 85-90% and it hadn't already cost us 2 wins.

Cleary and Reynolds are probs the top goal kickers in the comp, but compare them to Moses.

Cleary - 2020 79.63% 2021 85.45% 2022 85.39% 2023 60%

Reynolds 2020 85.22% 2021 79.19% 2022 84.72% 2023 75%

Moses 2020 81.43% 2021 75% 2022 78.51% 2023 57.14%

So they're kicking at roughly 85% to Moses 80%, which translates to them on average landing 17 kicks from 20 attempts, to Moses landing 16 kicks from 20 attempts.

That's f**k all difference, I'd suggest to replace him you'd want an 85% plus kicker, like say Cleary or Reynolds.

In other words unless you have the best or one of the best in the league to replace him, you're kidding yourself.

And Moses wants the same sort of coin as Cleary is on....

He's high as a kite.

Except we will probably succumb to pressure, and cave into it.

It's not just that he's missing kicks - it's that he's missing kicks that he should be easily getting, and it's hurting us.

Our defence has been shit the whole time he has been here bar 2 years
2014 13th points conceded
2015 13th
2016 salary cap
2017 7th finished 4th on ladder
2018 13th
2019 12th finished 6th
2020 3rd finished 3rd
2021 3rd finished 6th
2022 8th finished 4th

the only thing that has remained consistent is the coach in that time and we are always compressed and find ourselves short on the right.
Fact!

You only miss the number of kicks you miss, where you miss them from doesn't change that.

Like I said, forms temporary, you don't f**k off a genuine 80% kicker cause he's been kicking shit for a few weeks.

New defe
And apparently we spent all off season training for D to teach them how to become even worse than last year!!! How is that possible??? And 2 new players won't make much of a difference, the whole place needs to be blown up and to start over again.

Wtf, look at Turbo's first try. We tackle a player 15 mtrs out and instead of holding down as long as possible we release him almost immediately. This is tackling 101 and we can't even do the basics. Wtf is going on?
New defence coach - same issues. I was hoping Antonelli would bring a new structure to the club, but gee we can't win the ruck or defend a simple sweep to the left.

What that analysis doesn't say is when the misses occur. Is it when the game is on the line or the difference between going to Golden point or losing.

I don't recall too many games Reynolds and Cleary missing clutch kicks that could have either won the game, sent it to Golden point.

Throw in Moses can't structure up a set to nail a FG when under pressure.

He may kicked 6 FGs for parra but I reckon 5 of them he had kicked have been token shots when in front by 30.

Ryan Matterson joked and shook hands with Manly players at the back of the main grandstand at Brookvale late on Thursday – but you can only imagine the reception he would have received from his Parramatta teammates moments earlier when they trudged back into the dressing room after a third straight defeat.

Imagine if this footage was on the TV last night.
