I don’t know why we rushed to extend BA, then despite being short middles, we let Nrown go and don’t stipulate he can’t play against us this year. Just utter stupidity.
Did we rush or did he take the option?

Anyway, if we don't make the 8 this year, BA should resign on moral grounds.

I'm very disappointed. Angry even, given we got ourselves in a position to win all of our games...... But I digress. I watch games on Channel 9. I like to spend my money on things other than TV. The commentary last night was so over the top about Shuster that I was nearly sick. The way he chased Hodgson for his try reminded me of a fat labrador on the beach. And how f**ken hard is it to defend the no look pass that seems to be his only trick. That'll be all from me for today. Don't kill each other. ✌️
100% agree. Schuster is Mateo 2.0.

What was good on Nine last night was them highlighting how garbage our right side defence was, that made Schuster look like Wally. We are so obviously still spooked from Souths walking around us whenever they wanted that we’re stuck on sliding and so no one is actually applying any pressure, which probably means we also communicating less.
Defence is like attack in sometimes you need to mix it up, even if it doesn’t come off, or even lets in a try because at least the next time you’ve put uncertainty in the opponent’s mind.
When Sivo seems to be the most intelligent defender in the outside backs, we’ve got a problem.

Game turned when we were up 16-14 on a roll.

Parker lost the ball and we had a fresh set attacking the tryline.

It was our worst set of 6 for the game and Gutho gives a penalty away for a sherpard on last tackle.

Wtf were Moses & Brown to get the ball into the in-goal and get a repeat set.

And why did Gutho call for a miracle play there was no need to score right there just roll it in get another set and grind them down.

Manly were gassed in the last 5 mins we scored 3 tries and we really didn't put enough pressure on them to defend there line b2b sets all game.
Yep, Dylan Brown needed to be better on that play. He is supposed to be a guy capable of running the show on the last if Moses is playing the ball. As it is, Dylan looked very submissive. Maybe Gutho over-called him and that's why it was left to Gutho to roll in the kick. Either way, the whole thing was a dogs breakfast and let them off the hook...

Our attack wasn't that bad outside of our first set attacking there tryline in the 1st half when sivo got pushed out on 3rd tackle and that dogs breakfast of a set.

But unfortunately that dogs breakfast came at the worst possible moment.

I reckon if we go up 22-14 we run away with it. Manly would have been so deflated to throw everything at us in first 30 mins and then be down 8 just 10 mins into the 2nd half.

Fox wasnt any better with Ennis, it was like he was Wally Lewis last night.

God help NSW if he is on Fittler's radar. He's the sort of the play who could have the ability but would only play 2-3 good games a year then go missing at crucial stages. Even some Manly fans that I know would agree he's a ball playing back row and they seemed more excited when Johns was 5/8.

The rumour is the option was triggered by making GF which if true is fine. We made the GF, he deserves something for that.
But if true, the club should’ve settled that preseason or kept it in-house while we were 0-2.

If it was a simple BA no strings option - who the f**k gave him that?!?

If it was a club option, or a new contract…. FMD.

A promising thing that did happen was we visibly adjusted in a positive way to how Manly were defending. The problem was we were already down 14-0 when we did.

For whatever reason, the vast majority of journo's and callers across Fox, News Ltd and channel 9 seem to take some sort of pleasure out of seeing Parra struggle.

Like Gould last night having a dig at Moses saying he plays for the penalty by colliding with decoy runners and Fittler quickly jumping on board. That criticism would never be levelled at Cleary, or Jahrome Hughes or Sam Walker or pretty much any number 7 I don't reckon...

Was he talking about the one where the Manly try was disallowed?? If so, is he for real??

I couldnt give a flying toss about Origin anymore until Fittler gets the flick.

I hope he picks Schuster for game 2 if he is going to play him.

We already get manly that week without the turbo bros and DCE at Commbank.

Gould shouldnt be commentating full-stop its a conflict of interest with his role at the dogs.

It gives him an out to criticize the officials under the guise of being a commentator.

Its a disgrace and one of the reasons why i refuse to watch channel 9 ever since sterlo retired.

And the newly extended coach has absolutely no idea how to fix it.
And apparently we spent all off season training for D to teach them how to become even worse than last year!!! How is that possible??? And 2 new players won't make much of a difference, the whole place needs to be blown up and to start over again.

Wtf, look at Turbo's first try. We tackle a player 15 mtrs out and instead of holding down as long as possible we release him almost immediately. This is tackling 101 and we can't even do the basics. Wtf is going on?

Listened to Fox commentary which was extremely biased and if you had no vision you'd think just 1 team was playing, and it wasn't Parra. Braith Anasta obviously had his money on Manly.

I remember someone said something similar when we scored the most tries off kicks :)
Tries off kicks mean different things to the attack and the defence. Scoring them means you have a good kicker. Conceding them means the opposition have a good kicker, not that your defence is no good.

Our defence has been shit the whole time he has been here bar 2 years
2014 13th points conceded
2015 13th
2016 salary cap
2017 7th finished 4th on ladder
2018 13th
2019 12th finished 6th
2020 3rd finished 3rd
2021 3rd finished 6th
2022 8th finished 4th

the only thing that has remained consistent is the coach in that time and we are always compressed and find ourselves short on the right.
Were you happy with our defence before 2014?
