Todd Greenburg was on Vossy's The Fan last night and one of the fan questions was about Australia not playing many games, including not playing Great Britain.

Greenburg's first answer was 'but we're playing them next year'. So Vossy continued on about how Australian fans might want to see Australia play at home and the fact that Great Britain is here this year. Greenburg said shit like 'well they aren't here, they're in New Zealand' and 'we're playing New Zealand and Tonga this year and have to carefully manage player workload'. Then just went on about how great next year's tour will be with 'three tests against Great Britain and possibly a test in France'

Todd Greenberg is a bit anti expansionist/internationalist. It's only lucky that public pressure and the rise of International RL in the Pacific has forced the NRL to reconsider internationals and not put them on the backburner.

The NRL are comfortable letting teams playing 1-2 games per year in Australasian area, but anything more than that they start to dig their heels in.

Think an extremely attractive one off test match against a touring Lions team in NSW with Wayne Bennett coaching and a host of familiar and proven English players in such a squad was a tad too far in the ridiculous and hopeless administrative stakes! An absolute DISGRACE !

As someone mentioned earlier, I don’t see how they can use the excuse of player burn out and then in the same breath talk about Australia playing a minimum three, possibly four, matches on a 2020 tour to Europe.

I don’t think the 3 of them are a loss. Watkins is out of form and needs time in preseason. Burgess is, well I don’t know. This GB Lions tour is good to blood new talent with an eye to 2021 WC.

Apparently Sean O’Loughlin is in doubt too. Don’t think he’ll play again for England/GB.
