Not sure where the right place is for this opinion but it is kind of surreal when there is dissension in the fan camp when we have won more regular season games in our history during 2021 than every before. Last season longest winning streak in our history. Five finals appearances in our last six seasons and yet if you read some of the narrative on here you would think we were a basket case. It is a shame in some respect some on here we’re not around in the lesser seasons where we had no finals appearances, won only a handful of regular season games and for the most part we’re awful almost all of the time. The other night I think I heard Michael Ennis refer to us as a powerhouse. When the f**k have we ever been considered a powerhouse in our entire history. Go figure that and reflect when we complain about who is in or out this week going into another semi finals appearance when who knows we could even be minor premiers again. Just sometimes there needs to be some perspective put on things and not this sense of entitlement.
I have the feeling that this is our year.

In years gone passed this time of year was usually taken up with calculating if it was still even possible to make to finals.
Even thou we are going well I think most of us can still see areas where we can still improve.
It would be fantastics to see us put it all together on Grand Final day.

We were overawed in the first half in the grand final, and made a good fist in the second half. We have had seven players, playing Origin, with four making their debuts, that will help.

What are you on about @Kilkenny ?
I was just making the point the newer fan base have become accustomed to success given recent seasons and have higher expectations. We are enjoying a situation where we have serious competition for places unlike during the majority of our history. It is a healthy position to be in when we can debate the merits of May over Kenny or any other decision of our head coach. Im not about stifling any debate around team selections WTF would I know. It was never my intention I was simply pointing out the longer term members who endured many years of sub standard performances are just enjoying it for what it is. There has been numerous suggestions if we don’t win the GF we have failed I don’t agree with that. I enjoy the weekly wins, they mean a lot to me and my family. Sure a GF win is the ultimate goal but at the same time it doesn’t detract in any way from our accomplishments over this past six or so seasons.

I dunno. Malcontents who can't be happy unless there is always an argument that they don't like losing, or don't get the final word in.

For me in the Panthers' section, I'll say my little bit, then I'll discuss it for a couple of posts and that is it...I STFU.

And you are right, we all should be on cloud nine the way our team has been performing since 2019 when we came 10th. (check how many of today's team was in the first Rnd, then Rnd 21 of 2019.)

I am new to posting but have lurked for a while. I agree with this.

We are sitting at just under 90% win record across the past 2 seasons, Some weeks it is like a morque here.

It’s hard to explain, but watching the game on Sunday I like most others were disappointed. Go figure. We won but we’re largely disappointed. Is that a good thing or a bad thing. The point I have tried to make for those who endured the bad times is my wife and I dragged our kids far and wide only to endure a long and painful drive home on most occasions over many years. By all means let’s have healthy debate that’s what these forums are about, but at the same time we need to embrace our success, enjoy it while is
it lasts.

The worst thing about sports discussions is the people who are overly concerned about policing what others are discussing and consistently moan about others not being positive enough. Just discuss the topics or move on. Coming in here like teachers scolding everyone for not living up to your definition of fandom is the very definition of tiring.

I mean, I don't like Tyrone May being in the side, but I would never come in here and tell people who do like him to stop talking about him because "you won and he's in the side, so there's nothing to discuss anymore".

EDIT: And I am well aware that I am, in this post, one of those people moaning about what other people are discussing. Tiring, isn't it?

Changing the subject for a moment I think the Gus Gould position on the Latrell Mitchell situation is appalling. I have been a Gus supporter for the most part but his position on this issue is disgraceful and totally out of step with common sense and fair play. How anyone can seek to somehow justify in any shape or form what Latrell did is unfathomable. Latrell rightly so has been rubbed out till next season. I just don’t get how anyone, Gus or otherwise, can justify what Latrell did.

At the same time it is hard to respect the views of the fringe dwellers.

Those who choose to way in when it suits there narrative.

Some like yourself express views when openly admit to not having watched us play as you have in the past.

How does that work?

You want to take the moral high ground, and criticise the die hards?

Am I missing something here?

By all means flit in and out here when it takes your fancy but please don’t try and profess to caring about our fortunes I think your history speaks for itself.

I'll admit that I'm now confused how to have a discussion on a player in this place. We all understand the coach will pick the team how he wants - that's his job. But to offer rationale for my opinion on what would suit the team better is deemed/inferred as not supporting the club through long rambling posts about how long someone has supported the club and ungrateful newcomers.

Presumably I'm the one referred to by @GongPanther now meant to STFU also. Apologies if it appeared I was on an anti-May rant - I foolishly thought it was forum back-and-forth.

Anyway, can't wait for Friday night.

Gatekeeping (noun):
When someone takes it upon themselves to decide who does or does not have access or rights to a community or identity.

You have lost a hell of a lot of my respect with this post. We disagreed on many things, but I never figured you for a blowhard like this. Who the hell are you to tell anyone else how much they care about the club?

Same here I really didn’t like the comments about if you have never played the game you’ll never understand, good way to put a lot of people off. Plus the dribble about the star player missing the finals was rubbish latrell is the most suspended player this year for a reason! He has massive anger issues that show with grubby acts. Gus will always have my respect for what he has done for rugby league but those comments ain’t cool.

People have a right to swim against the tide. Don’t agree with Gould on this one but suggesting his opinion isn’t valid is exactly what he did when he said you can only have an opinion if you have played first grade…

In not a chef therefore can't comment on a bad restaurant meal.

I'm not a professional musician and can't comment on a poor performance. I actually had this one used on me by a band member when I criticised his mate doing the sound mixing. If I can't hear the guitar solo and I can see it being played then I should be able to hear it.

It's an argument used to deflect all criticism from the perceived outsider.

Even allowing for that way of thinking, There has been what 20,000 tackles this year?

Only 1 has broken a ball carriers jaw. So are the other 479 players in the NRL wrong? What about the 3 ex NRL players that make up the MRC?

That is where this argument gets lost. It isn't that hard to stop, brace than hit the ball carrier. All part of timing your run as with anything in the game
