I'll admit that I'm now confused how to have a discussion on a player in this place. We all understand the coach will pick the team how he wants - that's his job. But to offer rationale for my opinion on what would suit the team better is deemed/inferred as not supporting the club through long rambling posts about how long someone has supported the club and ungrateful newcomers.

Presumably I'm the one referred to by @GongPanther now meant to STFU also. Apologies if it appeared I was on an anti-May rant - I foolishly thought it was forum back-and-forth.

Anyway, can't wait for Friday night.

I missed those posts but:

May covers more positions and is the perfect example of a 14, where the issue gets blurred is him starting. He should never start in any position.

As a 14 though, He played 1, 9, 12 and also filled in the middle when we go injury free. While we can do things like move Capewell, that ruins the bench rotation which is what brings teams undone when injuries hit

In not a chef therefore can't comment on a bad restaurant meal.

I'm not a professional musician and can't comment on a poor performance. I actually had this one used on me by a band member when I criticised his mate doing the sound mixing. If I can't hear the guitar solo and I can see it being played then I should be able to hear it.

It's an argument used to deflect all criticism from the perceived outsider.
I can't tell if I have a headache because I am not a brain surgeon...

Gus obviously knows that there is no valid way of defending Mitchell's action so tries to discount everyone's arguments using the "you don't know what you are talking about" argument. I believe that the MRC is comprised mostly of ex first grade players and referees, don't they know what they are talking about?

Thanks all. Agree that Gould’s way of portraying his argument has been pompous and belittling to the hundreds of thousands of people who, despite never having the athletic gifts to play first grade, follow and love the game and deserve to have an opinion.

But I do think he has the right to suggest the tackle wasn’t as bad as people were making out. Just a few short weeks ago, some of the forums in LU and other supporter sights went berserk at a blatant Nathan Cleary shoulder charge versus the Saints. The perceived wisdom was that is was evidence of Penrith getting favourable treatment. Many of us disagreed with that.

On the back of reading some of the arguments that Gould made I have rewatched the incident a few times. I think he is somewhat right in that Manu is falling slightly at the time of impact. However, I don’t think he has fallen enough to justify the angle of Latrell’s attack, while the force of Latrell’s hit leaves no room for error and, in my opinion, is the definition of reckless. But I actually think Gould suggesting the alternative way of thinking has helped me become more sure of the way I view the incident, because I have taken on his suggestions, looked at the incident through that prism, and still think the tackle was horrible.

I was not referring to you. It was a generalization to which I was responding to Killkennys post. Take it or leave it if you think I was being hurtful. I, just like any part of this forum, simply speak my mind.

I was just making the point the newer fan base have become accustomed to success given recent seasons and have higher expectations. We are enjoying a situation where we have serious competition for places unlike during the majority of our history. It is a healthy position to be in when we can debate the merits of May over Kenny or any other decision of our head coach. Im not about stifling any debate around team selections WTF would I know. It was never my intention I was simply pointing out the longer term members who endured many years of sub standard performances are just enjoying it for what it is. There has been numerous suggestions if we don’t win the GF we have failed I don’t agree with that. I enjoy the weekly wins, they mean a lot to me and my family. Sure a GF win is the ultimate goal but at the same time it doesn’t detract in any way from our accomplishments over this past six or so seasons.

You can't be talking about me because my first game was the 91 GF.

If we don't win the GF that is indeed a fail. It's the entire purpose. It also doesn't take away the joy of weekly wins though.

Look at the Storm and Roosters. They aren't content with just winning a few regular season games.

New we were going well but I didn't realise that we were going this well.
It is actually the most dominant in the limited tackle era. Souths and St George made their names in the unlimited tackle era when you just got the biggest players and eventually barged over after a zillion tackles.

Finally Nathan gets a good highlights vid. A few of these start a second too late though to really show the context of what he's doing.

Good to see Brian getting the media attention he deserves, but geez, that FOX promo could have been handled with a bit more sensitivity. The narration is poorly written and should have been done by someone like Hannah Hollis, not the "What about this bloke" bloke.

It is gross. It has a place in a profile piece, not in promotional material.
