I agree. That is not a dig at Kiks but having 15 metres to wind up against a retreating half is different to taking a hit up against an oncoming wall of forwards.

Fish and Leota who eat broken glass for breakfast. Then have SS coming off the bench. Martin rips the heads of running chooks. I don't see players within the dogs system who can or are willing to do this.

In my opinion Dogs have bought flash, without any real workers to secure the foundations.

Because real workers don't create headlines

This Gus thing gets up my nose. He has not been here for 5 preseasons, he stuffed our salary cap, cost the club Millions $ for sacked coaches, Fish and Leota would be 2 players signed under his time, the rest are from our talent scouts.
Its time we recognised the current Management and the coaching skills of Ivan and his team.
The coaching team wouldn't even have been assembled without Gus. He made sure we got the academy. He started the collaboration out in western NSW to expand our junior catchment. He made sure we focused on juniors, something we have never done in the past. Sure, we have had some good juniors, but that was more luck than good planning and investment. That's why we have two good seasons and sink without trace. Evidence of failed junior development? Kingston, Burns and Walsh as 3/4 of the Panther's spine in 2011. Plot lost. Nuff said.

Gus has turned development into an art form, a religion. Many people have played important roles, but it all starts with Gus's vision and strategy. The current management team, took his vision and did an amazing job executing it.

Didn't Gus want Bennett not Ivan? How would the coaching staff not be here without Gus in that case.

As for the Regional Development Matt Cameron had a huge say in that too, Gus' profile helped secure funding and the like. He also knew what people was needed for each role.

The fact those people have been able to flourish since he left is proof of the good judgement in these areas

I 'think' I was told that the junior pathways and academy idea was Matt Cameron's, his plan, his details. Gus just facilitated it happening.

Rose Coloured Glasses shouldn't cause any harm.

Matt Cameron is responsible for Pathways. During Ivan's first reign he was given the task of building from within. He along with the great Jim Jones came up with the Junior Pathways program that is flourishing now. Their plan, Gould made it happen.

That is how I remember it too, I remember reading something like on Cameron's 1st day. Gus gave a blank sheet of paper and told him to write what he needs and he will get it

I don't think it's a simple as that. Penrith have a huge junior nursery. I don't think it's a one size fits all type of thing. Lots of individual moving parts. The dogs don't have the sheer numbers of kids comming through. We all know that out of 100 kids only 1 or 2 will make it in the NRL.

Also because of Gus buying top end players many of these kids will move on and leave, get sick of waiting for a chance.

Look at what happened when Barrett attempted to Pantherize the dogs team in 2021 and 2022.

Beloved ex Panther Blorey arrested for suspended driving.

Appeared at Mt Druitt court today.

Ffs @Murraymob1 if you’re off your bail, can you drive him to WT training mate?

I thought you'd be up for the driving and all. Or are you on a 'restricted licence' ?

Nup, I had at least 3 points left on my licence last time I checked.

That’s 3 more points than Blorey!

Master of the M4 Eastern Creek (Westbound) and Mamre Rd turnoff.

King of Kingswood Parade.

and my favourite title the Judas of Jamieson Rd…

And I’ll be thinking of you Alice when I attend the coronation of king Charlie on behalf of the citizens of Penrith, sitting next the William in Prince Harry’s chair. Instead of Megan, Shaz the ex Henry St hooker next to me, smoking a durry, can of vb, playing her poker games.

You can’t blame people for their chequered past look at the Royals.

I’ll wear a wristband with your name on it and as the bbc cameras pan in, l’ll jiggle it around.

A restricted licence is given to the aged or infirmed so that you can still drive, but within a limited KMs.....not too far from home.

When you say responsible, you make it sound as though it would have happened without Gus. The way I understand it and have heard Gus talk about it, Gus's vision for the club was as a development club. He wanted to create what the Broncos had when it was in its prime, quoting the fact they produced or debuted something like 80% of their own players. He then let Jones and Cameron design and build what was needed and he supported them. That's great leadership. For those who say it wasn't Gus who made it happen, I'll ask this question. "Why didn't Jones or Cameron build it at the Panthers or Eels before?". Our move to a "development club" didn't happen in a vacuum.

I am simply saying Gus was the catalyst that started our revolution. The fact he hired good people to create a plan, doesn't diminish that. The Roosters have been good at developing players in the last 20 years. Gus started that programme too.
