like I said before the trial clash makes no sense for many reasons too but I guess it did happen. Who approved Phillips to go coach with NSW? No other NRL assistants were there. So Gus is far from blameless in whatever happened.

Phillips was being ignored here, he literally left because he wasn’t being used.

I’ve never said Gus is blameless in anything, he’s made errors. He gets a lot right though, we are much stronger club for having him.

He seemed to have mostly stayed out of it until he realised how badly he f**ked up by giving Hook the job

They aren’t going to hire another coach like hook who refuses to work with anyone, that was the issue. The more involved Gus is the better imo.

But they hired Hook in the 1st place. Without any sort of an interview. Ciraldo seems to be not sure of wanting to coach and didn't even interview others. So hardly have learnt from the mistakes

If his new coach is willing to work with people. Why would Gus need to interfere?

And if he's willling to work with people. It wouldnt be interference if Gus did try to help anyway.

Hook refused to work with his coaching staff or listen to his boss. He didnt know how to communicate well with players. We could have been so much better off if he hadnt been such a stubborn bastard and let Ciro and Gus help him.

The coaching staff are supposed to be a team aswell. Hook had shortcomings like any person. Gus thought we could work around them. Why is it a bad thing that he tried to make it work? All Hook needed to do was work with his coaching staff like any other coach does and he not only finishes the season, but likely his Contract.

Seriously though, it's not bitching and whining to point out we have a few holes in our squad which aren't being addressed, and the ridiculous position we're now in with a stop gap coach.

That is for me. We made a mistake with the hiring process of Griffin. Maybe he still gets the job if we had an interview process. Same too with Ciraldo but the process is like we don't learn. The roster is the same process over and over. Lose a few guys replace from within

Anyone who fails at Brisbane won't be able to succeed elsewhere. Was obvious from day 1 Hook was a mistake

But is it really?

Ciraldo is just a caretaker coach. Promoting our assistant coach until we appoint a proper successor is hardly the same mistake we made when hiring Hook.

This time around we haven't rushed into appointing a new coach. I agree we have roster holes that need fixing. We've lost a ridiculous amount of experienced talent since 2016 and as great as our development system is, that system doesnt give NRL experience or guarantee we develop longterm NRL quality players.

Yet we will be top 8 again and should we have a healthy squad in the finals we will be a threat.
