Can't believe the amount of people in here who have said Gillard.
UNBELIEVABLE

I'd take a broomstick before I'd take Gillard.
Before this forum I hadn't met one person who in their right mind even contemplated supporting Ju-liar. I couldn't understand how on Earth she got in to power.

Now I can see, it all becomes so very clear.

I find it extraordinarily funny that people call Julia Gillard a liar, when almost every political party in history has backflipped on election promises. Just goes to show that when a donkey like Tony Abbott brays long enough and loud enough, some people will believe him. Bloody shame.

Agree. This is for the benefit of Delboy. I would be very interested to read his comments re: Ju-liar etc.

May 2, 1995 (doorstop interview):

Journalist: “So you've left the door open for a GST now, haven't you?”
Howard: “No, there's no way that a GST will ever be part of our policy”.
Journalist: “Never ever?”
Howard: “Never ever. It's dead. It was killed by the voters at the last election”.

May 2, 1995 (press release):

"A GST or anything resembling it is no longer Coalition policy. Nor will it be policy at any time in the future. It is completely off the political agenda in Australia."

December 11, 1995 (Radio 2NC):

"Can I look you straight in the eye and say this, that if I state before an election that we're not going to do something and say it in concrete terms, I mean it. One of the worst things about politics in Australia at the moment is that the public doesn't believe what political leaders say."

Gronk, you were probably still at school, but Howard went to the election with GST as part pf the platform, and won.

Please do not include the incompetents of the current useless government in the same breath as Howard and Costello.

Let me think, even you Gronk could be considered as Treasurer if you start with $20 billion, then spend another $200 billion you get someone else to repay and think you have been successful.

I have been involved in international banking most of my working life and possibly only Parra Pete is a contibutor as old as me

So keep payng your taxes, give money away like KRudd and Gillard and you will still have more tax to pay to get the country out of this mess. Dopes like me will struggle in rertirement when I get there thanks to this mob.

Be careful out there mate, it can get ugly

We have a Treasurer who is not even degree qualified in economics or finance. We have a PM who is really a watermelon and can't for the life of my speak without the embarassing drool and waddles like a duck. We have an Immigration Minister who doesn't understand the Migration Act. We have a Communications Minister who refused to make public the treasury modelling on the NBN and who spits the dummy when SkyNews actually won the tender the Australian network (not once but twice). ........we have the worse ruling government party in Australia's history.

Let's be clear on one thing mate - democratically elected politicians don't rule; they govern.

The people who rule us get paid a damn sight more, and there's no way they would expose themselves to the mindless whims of the masses.

Gronk, you were probably still at school,.
No, I was probably running my own business for the past 6 years in 1998.
but Howard went to the election with GST as part pf the platform, and won.
Yes he did win the 98 election with GST on the agenda. He scraped through and lost 14 seats in the process. He ended up with 49% of the vote and Beazley 51% but was returned due to a dubious gerrymander. My point of providing you with the Howard quotes was to back Lingard's statement that all politicians tell fibs. The GST was going to happen anyway. Beazely would have brought it in if he won the election, just as the coalition would have dealt with the issue of a carbon tax by now had Abbott got the numbers in 2010.

I am sorry that you will struggle in retirement Delboy, however I doubt that you can blame the current government for your position, seeing that we have been in and out if a GFC since they came to power in 2007. Their performance will have had little effect on the net worth of your super, compared with world money markets.

Actually we are well positioned in this "mess" as you put it. Perhaps you should look outside of the Abbott/Hockey rhetoric and actually find out how the country is positioned globally.

I don't think Julia or Abbott can win the next election. Labor should reinstate Rudd purely for his public appeal and Libs should oust Abbott purely for his lack of public appeal. One of the 2 will lose rather than the other winning.

The NBN is a waste of money, we just need a few extra Maccas here and there

Well Gronk when you stand for the ALP in ahy election, given your obvious incomprehensible political leanings, you can understabnd why you will not get my vote ( waits with bated breath for the reaction, not)

By the way, because we criticise this excuse for a govt, does not mean we listen to any radio station, in fact it shows we have a keen sense of reality

Cheers and at least Abbott et al dont dribble on about flogball
