Middle of the road seems to be Continental. They are $30 dearer than Coopers and $75 cheaper than Michelin. Looks like my car* comes with them new in some countries so I think I'll go with that.

* It's not really my car. It's my wife's car. I don't own a car. :(

<Breaking News>

Got a sweet deal on Pirelli Scorpion Verde for the same price as a no frills brand. Apparently it's known as the world's first green tyre.

I'd prefer black, but beggars can't be choosers at that price.

Q: Are Bridgestone, Goodyear, Pirelli, Michelin, Continental tyres worth paying the extra 25-50% over the cheaper brands (Kumho, Hankook, Cooper, Toyo, Falken etc) ?

I think Yokahama are probably the best. But I`d rather talk about silly stuff.

OK thanks. A friend of mine said that that I should go for Michelin because they are proven (?) to stop better in the wet and have better wear. He said that I will be replacing the cheaper tyres earlier and hence save money buying the better quality tyres. Myth ?

All very well; but what if you don`t plan on driving in the wet?

I know how you feel. I`m not in the same situation as you (not by a long stretch), but I know how you feel.
