The popups you are experiencing are not always the fault of the website, its because you've attracted some spyware from another website. This spyware activates the browser while its safety devices are being lowered (such as opening a site which exchanges information).

Usually caused by visiting too many Porno sites guys. ;)

Seriously thought, the culprit is probably Gator, a small application that attaches itself to your Windows and creates the pop up adverts.

You can manually delete Gator from your Windows (or Windows System) folder but there may be other similar applications whih slip under your notice.

Best thing is to use a spyware eradication program like 'Ad-aware' which will do the trick and make your cpu run smoother.

You can download Ad-aware for free from download.com and other such sites.

Oh yeh, duh. Now I get your drift.
No mate. The only other thing I have open sometimes is my Bigpond email account. I thought it may be that a couple of days ago. I tried signing on here without that open a few times but it made no difference.
I'm not complaining. It'd just be sweet if pop up after pop up didn't appear sometime. No sweat. I'll just keep closing the mongrels.

Well mate if visiting porno sites is the cause, then these bastards have got me...big time! I may be at work, but it ain't gonna stop me. But mate it ain't porno ads I'm getting. It's just useless junk. Damn, I wouldn't mind some porno image popping up in front of me (nothing like a sweet_ _ _ _ _ _ popping up all over a 19inch monitor), but when it's useless crap like credit card offers and the type, it shits me.
Thanks for the tips Willow. Will head over now.

Bronco: 'Sex tracker', eh? So it can't be all that bad.
Sounds like one of those pornovideos that Pepe is into.

If you have your privacy on Medium High it should block a few.

Click on the red circle with the white line it near Internet on the bottom right of your browser.

When you see the msn cokkie click summary.

XP has nothing to do with it as it's the browser.

Go to Internet options then privacy and set it to medium high.

Speaking of privacy, its probably not a big surprise to most of you but I know that MSN in america hires people and their full time job is to monitor msn chat sites and groups. My cousins boyfriend did it. He said they were on the look out for child porn, beastiality and threats against the president. If they found something they notified the FBI. All you would need is for one of them to be say . . . a scientologist and who knows what would happen. ;)

Good point Joe.
But with so many sites to monitor, don't they use some sort of crawling or search program? One that picks up keywords? I assuming that if they see words like 'child porn' or 'assassination' or 'alternative fuel sources' popping up a million times that they then have a look at the message board.

Probably, but the way he was talking they have a lot of discretion and basically do whatever they want while waiting for a suspect site to pop up out of the system. He said he spent most of the time reading chat, which he said was the most boring thing he ever did. That and surfing the net. Probably had quite a good connection . . .
