What ever you think about Gould , good or bad, the one single truth is that he is no where near as great as he thinks he is. Also I would be willing to pay more than $1 for HIM to shut up

Gould grates people but he is very good at what he does. His double edged commentary is annoying as f**k and is so he can always be right no matter the outcome, but his record for the last 30 odd years cant be argued. He knows how a club should be set up for success and how to put the right people in the right roles.

He makes a few errors and falls in love with certain players a bit too easy, but he set the path for the Roosters back in the 90's then us, early days at the Dogs, but the trajectory is headed in the right direction. Look at all 3 clubs pre Gus. Transit Lounge, Perennial under achievers and f**kin' basket case.

1. Won the comp with the dogs in his first year of.l coaching

2. won panthers first ever conp in his second year there

3. turned around the roosters from transit lounge

4. best nsw coach ever

5. saved panthers leagues club from bankruptcy

6. Oversaw development pathways that developed one of the best teams in the history of rugby league

7. turned the dogs from a basketcase

dare say nobody knows more about rugby league than he does

Gus has a good football brain squirreled away behind an extremely irritating egotistical persona and a million agendas.

Like a lot of the media personalities, he's better on his own podcast/show. I can watch 6 tackles with Gus for the insight but I'd just about rather shoot myself than watch 100% footy.

I'm not a supporter of any of those clubs, but I'd take Gus at my club in a heartbeat if he can work his magic there too.

I forgot to mention went to Newcastle when the club had agreed to go to super league and convinced the Johns boys to stay with the arl

the loss of Newcastle would’ve been a huge blow to the arl

also when he was at the warriors convinced the arl they needed to increase funding for the nzrl

Buying Storm and Panthers stars is genius apparently.

Gould improving a bottom team with only the meagre resources of the Panthers Coaching staff, Stephen Crichton, Josh Ado-Carr, Matt Burton and Vilame Kikau is highly commendable.

How do you reckon all those blokes ended up at Penrith genius?

First grade is a sideshow. They are a long way off.

Dogs reserve grade results have been on the up for a while. That will give them long-term success.

This is the most important thing Gus has done. First grade success will come eventually I hope. It took Penrith a while.

But lower grades and youth talent hasn't even been an afterthought at Canterbury for as long as I can remember.

I wish he’d drop the commentary gig plus club associations and put his footy brains to good use at NRL Commission level. Instead of constantly whinging about the game - do something about it. Get the game to fix/improve the rules, junior participation, bush footy etc.

Yeh he would make a great commissioner

they had a rule about nobody being involved with a club for 3 years previously from being allowed on the commission

plus news ltd wouldn’t be happy if he was given a seat given his past arl association

why Quayle missed out for lesser people on the commission

Yeh, wasn’t sure if that was still a thing but he could just take the Nine money for three years before taking a seat at the table, I guess. I don‘t think News would be too bothered given some of their reporters have been telling him to put up or shut up over a number of years.

Rothfield still hates him that’s for sure

Your right dean ritchie did say he should go on the commission.

He would have to give up huge wages though at nine and dogs so unlikely

turning around the dogs is a big thing for the game they’ve been useless for ages

Would he be allowed to work for Nine and work on the Commission? V’landys has two gigs. Anyway, he definitely doesn’t need the money
