There is too much emotional investment in teams to just merge them, I think that is an easy option. Work out how to grow them and use their rivalry too the sports advantage. It's not like merging two businesses.
What's wrong with rugby league saturating Sydney? Damage the other sports not our clubs.
saturating, nothing. Over saturation everything. Clubs are businesses and need to generate revenue. To do this they need supporters and sponsors. It would seem, given all the facts we have, that there are not enough of either in Sydney to keep clubs viable as $30milion a year businesses. Either we need to bring down the cost of running an nrl club or generate more revenue at each club. So far they have not been able to achieve the latter. Crowds are at best static at most clubs, sponsors are increasingly harder to get and clubs are still pending poverty and relying on taking millions of $’s a year out of LC revenue which could be going to support jnr RL growth.
the only hope is if Vlandys can pull off a miracle and get every Sydney club a decent 25k modern stadium then we may see some movement, but that looks a very big IF.
all franchise businesses have a modelling to avoid over saturation that puts all franchises at risk.
