No, there are 700,000 to 1 million people in the north of Sydney and central coast who have no team.
Doesn't stop AFL and RU from growing in that region

Exactly!
All this says is that none of the 9 clubs in Sydney can manage city wide appeal
East are taking steps in the right direction, looking to take over the the North and hopefully they succeed. Manly have outright failed at expanding out of their little peninsular
thats right, the whole area is very very important to the NRLDoesn't stop AFL and RU from growing in that region
The QRL has been just as lazy with Logan. It has over 325,000 residents and around 14 RL clubs, with the number growing. It is a dyed in the wool RL city and produces lots of talent for the NRL. It's been over 17 years since the Scorpions were forced to fold, due to the extravagant lease the Logan City Council forced them to sign in 1988. Only now are they talking about putting a team here.thats right, the whole area is very very important to the NRL
and guess what, we the NRL have been neglecting it, for way too long
which is a ff disgrace. the whole area should be pumping with NRL fans
massive growth in population, its like someone has been asleep at the wheel
Chatswood to Bankwest 26km, about 50min drive, or little less, or little more. depends on the time and traffic . or 2 trainsThis is the irony of using the AFL threat to justify an NRL team in every suburb! AFL can be a threat with just two clubs in the whole city, but somehow if NRL has less than 9 we are in trouble? How does that work????
That's the real elephant in the room, despite having 3 NRL clubs within geographical reach of the whole of Northern Sydney region somehow those clubs cant appeal to the fans in that area?
Chatswood to Bankwest 26km
Chatswood to Brookvale 13km
Chatswood to Allianz 13km
All very do-able distances to follow a club.

Exactly..whats even stupider is every AFL club in melbourne is within a 10km radius of the CBD... there are millions of people in Melbourne on the outskirts not even represented by a Team!!! how can they sleep at night leaving this territory open to other sports like this?
Does the Victorian Gov offer free travel to AwFuL games?
In Queensland the state government offers free railway travel all over the south-east, but cannot do shit about buses as they're run by local gov. So if you live in Logan, Ipswich, Redland, Gold Coast, Moreton Bay or Sunshine Coast and aren't near a train line then you to drive to one, which can be a real hassle. There's not always going to be adequate parking and there's still a fair walk from Lang Park to the nearest train stop.
If you live in Logan and wish to catch the bus, you will need to drive to Eight Miles Plains Bus Station, which is always full when the Broncos play and can take up to 20-30 minutes to find a park.
For this reason, I think the idea of having just 2 teams in Brisbane and basing them out of Lang Park will hurt crowds for both the Broncos and Brisbane 2. The only solution is boutique stadiums in Logan, Ipswich and Moreton Bay, and push for crowds of 15,000-18,000 at each ground.
Broncos/Lang Park 30k
South Brisbane/Logan 18k
West Brisbane/Ipswich 18k
North Brisbane/Moreton Bay 18k
TOTAL 84k
Getting 84k people from Greater Brisbane to attend NRL games each fortnight, as opposed to the 30k that patronise the Broncos, is better for the game and trouble for the Lions and Reds.
How can the NRL create another Broncos?I don't see it happening. I imagine the NRL would be trying to replicate the Broncos or a mini version of them for the next Brisbane team, not create Brisbane's version of Manly, Cronulla and Penrith.
fully agree, fantastic insights to the Brisbane footie scene, smart ideas, well thought out ideas. are whatz needed, not a rush at the gate ideas, good oneDoes the Victorian Gov offer free travel to AwFuL games?

As far as I'm aware they don'tDoes the Victorian Gov offer free travel to AwFuL games?
For major events it is a hassle people will take on, but when it's all over and they arrive home after midnight, they will remember why they don't do it every fortnight. As far as I'm aware they don't
If people from the outskirts of a city of 5 million can make it to Central stadiums im sure the people of Brisbane, with less than half the population, can do the same if they wish
Sydney gets a pass because their roads and rail are a shambles
AFL and RU aren't very big either, outside of pockets in Mosman, Gordon etc.Doesn't stop AFL and RU from growing in that region
thats right , thats why brookvale, gozford are very importantAFL and RU aren't very big either, outside of pockets in Mosman, Gordon etc.
It's a symptom of the poor sports infrastructure in Sydney's north, there are no good stadiums and if you don't live in the Lower North Shore, the SFS and SCG aren't very accessible.
The real elephant in the room is that there are/will be three good stadiums to serve the six NRL clubs between Bondi and Parramatta, yet the only stadium in Northern Sydney for NRL, and rectangular sport in general, is Brookvale Oval. That's the real elephant in the room, despite having 3 NRL clubs within geographical reach of the whole of Northern Sydney region somehow those clubs cant appeal to the fans in that area?
