What if Bird and Milligan were out the night before and had an almighty argument and went their seperate ways that night?

What if Buird got home first and was in bed when Milligan came home that morning?

What if Milligan got herself a glass of water and then went into the bedroom and fronted Bird over her embarrassment over argument in front of her friends?

What if Bird told her what he thought of the whole matter and her not coming home?

What if she was offended at what he said and threw the glass of water at him?

What if he told her she was a farkin idiot and she lost the plot and lunged at him?

What if having piced up the glass which she threw at him, he fended her off and she was accidently hit and the glass broke causing the injury.

What if she isnt protecting him, but infact he is protecting her? Did she not assault him in thsi scenario?

It will be interesting IF the TRUTH comes out

Are you implying that what you have written is the 'truth'?

As for the "making a false accusation" charge, didn't the cops do that when they accused him of inflicting GBH? Why can they make stuff up, only to back down? ;-)

His version of the truth is no different to the police version, both are unsubstanciated.

Yes Surely, but he has been charged with making a false allegation, they walk away from it.

so why has she not come forward - pretty obvious....
yep. Because there is a lot of enthusiasm on this particular case & she stands a chance of possibly being stitched up too. Even further.

yes - if he f**king lied, and all know it, including the coach and CEO
Well they have put themselves on moral high ground if that is what they are saying. better be no slip ups in the media from them in the future when trying to control a bad situation, especially with all the talk of the company going public etc.

mega sticth up - how the f**k did she sustain the inuries she did????
Through an accident, in which the adults sorted it out. Which part dont you understand? How or why the accident happened is nobodies business or everybodies, if the adults chose.

come on - how did she do it to herself????
who cares. Its nobodys business. They have sorted it out.

thats all the judge will want to know....
She wil lsay it was an accident & that will be it.

Police have dropped one of the charges against Cronulla Sharks star Greg Bird - accused of attacking his girlfriend with a glass - and replaced it with a lesser charge.
SUSPENDED Sharks star Greg Bird is poised to resurrect his career in England as revelations surfaced that the club's chief executive, Tony Zappia, is defending accusations from a female employee that he assaulted her.
Bird is devastated his court case for allegedly hitting girlfriend Katie Milligan in the face with a glass was yesterday adjourned until April 27 as it means his football career remains in limbo. One of the charges that had been levelled at him was downgraded in Downing Centre Local Court yesterday, but police refused to drop the interim apprehended violence order that prevented him from being in contact with Milligan, who remains overseas.
It is understood Bird may now ask for a release from the Sharks in an attempt to play for another NRL club, but his management will start sounding out UK Super League clubs in the next week.
"He's over it all and wants to get away from all this," a source close to the Australian and NSW representative said last night. "He's shattered. He just wants to play footy again."
In a new twist, the Herald has learned Zappia - the man poised to terminate Bird's contract - has been accused of assaulting a female employee. He refused to comment when contacted last night, but NRL chief executive David Gallop confirmed he knew about the claims.
"We are aware that an allegation has been made against him [Zappia]," Gallop said. "At this stage, we are waiting for a report from the club about it."
It is believed the incident allegedly occurred in September, while Zappia and the employee were skylarking at a Sharks home match. No complaint has been made to police and charges have not been laid, but the matter was, according to club sources, due to appear before the Industrial Relations Commission this morning.
The employee, who is on paid leave from the club, is understood to have taken photos of her bruised face after the incident. It is an ironic development as the club's biggest name defends claims of an assault against his girlfriend.
Bird, 24, hardly breathed a sigh of relief as he stormed out of court yesterday morning, telling reporters he "had a ball" while on recent holidays in the US and then bristled at a journalist "don't touch me" when her microphone brushed his shoulder.
His charge of maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm was downgraded to reckless wounding, but he also faces three other charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and two charges of lying to police.
Zappia would not be drawn on Bird's fate but the Herald understands the club will not wait until after Bird's court case in late April to determine his future.
The Sharks board is expected to convene shortly to decide on a course of action, but Bird's manager, Gavin Orr, hinted last night his client was ready to relocate overseas despite insisting throughout the ordeal he wanted to remain in Australia.
"Greg is very disappointed with what has happened today because it means his future is still on hold for another five months," Orr said. "He might now have to work out whether he can stay here or play abroad."
The NRL has maintained it would not allow Bird to play at another NRL club if the assault allegations were proven. Asked if Bird gaining a release from the Sharks instead of being sacked might allow him to stay in the NRL, Gallop replied: "Potentially, yes. But one of the things we would look at was the attitude of the club that has terminated him and what led them to terminate him. At this stage, a lot of issues have to be resolved between Greg and the club, and he also has the police matters to sort out as well."

dear female employee,

f*ck off and take your money grabbing somewhere else

kind thanks,
disgruntled footy fan

---------------------------------------------------

THIS IS A F*CKEN JOKE NOW...end of story, zappia would be the last person to do anything wrong, this is now all about grubs trying to get $$$ out of people with money

lol zappia, hurting a women, out of all the people to target, you target him, IDIOT
--------------------------------------------------

our court system is a bloody farce...while they pissfart around playing twiddlywinks, 2 things happen

1.Bird is left in limbo for another 5 months
2.We are one player short for another 5 months due to us having to wait to see the outcome of this crap

the more time they take the more likely bird is innocent, just make a bloody decision, not that hard, both parties present evidence, witnesses, jury makes decision..how hard can it be...

She will say it was an accident & that will be it.

I am no lawyer but I seriously doubt she will take the stand for Bird and say that it was an accident. I think she will be kept well away from the stand. They would be playing with fire by doing that, especially now the charge is RECKLESS wounding. Its not difficult to prove recklessness.

A good way to think of it is to consider S.195 - Destroying or Damaging Property with the proof of action being intentionally or recklessly

e.g. Two guys are kicking a football right next to parked cars. One of them kicks the ball off the side of the boot and it hits a car and smashes a window. Obviously its not intentional but his actions are considered reckless because of what he is doing and where he is doing it, so he can still be charged and convicted.

Milligan would have to come up with one pretty good accident to totally absolve Bird of any reckless action.

Seems my source was correct that there was something afoot.

Rest assured, the ones responsible for pursuit of Greg Bird will come to light. It's just a matter of time.

There wont be jury, its in the Local Court.
The five month delay is due to finding the available court time. A three day hearing at the Downing Centre is not available at a few weeks notice. You also have the three week Christmas period closure and being spring/summer crime increases as well.

Its annoying but nothing can be done about it.

I note that the prosecution has mentioned seventeen witnesses will be called. Interesting. Does the list include Milligan? I would say yes but any attempts to get her there will be in vain imo.

Reports on foxsports seem to indicate that a decision to sack him will be fast tracked by the board in a meeting to take place before christmas.

Anyone heard anything about this?
