No chance in the world would he get into a specialist mental health unit in gaol. He'd have to be made NGI and then he'd become a forensic patient and never get released.

They are not kept seperated at all. Only the sickest, most dangerous. 80% of the prison population has a mental illness Dave. It wouldn't even be possible to seperate them all.

Good points all.

I'm not defending Bird.
I'm attacking the "news" Like they did in the "Coffs Harbour Scandal" they have lied & lied & ruined peoples lives without any ramifications.

So the way it stands is this;

The news have reported that Greg Bird glasses his girlfriend.
Fact: he most probably hasn't & will not go to trial & will be acquitted - obviously depends on what girlfriend says and forensic evidence also. Even if she is unwilling there is a good chance it would still go ahead

The news have reported that Bird told police that his flat mate attacked katie.
Fact: He told them there had been an accident

The news have reported that Bird tried to deceive police.
Fact: He handed himself in for a statement some 12 hours after the incident & told them everything. - not exactly, was told to attend, did not make a statement or interview as instructed by lawyer

The news have reported that Greg Birds neighbours said there was a loud thud. This followed by greg Bird in the foyer with Milligan. She said why did you do this to me? he said I didn't do this to you.
he then said stop being a f*cking idiot.
Fact. There was lots more said than that. Was the thud the door closing when he was hurrying to get her to the hospital? What else was said by the neighbours? Why aren't the news reporting it? - because the media dont know these things. They are not privy to the neighbours statements

Fact: Due to the media being liars & the population being force fed their lies we have now lost one of our best players. - they certainly havent helped but if he is guilty then the club is left with no choice anyway.

When do clubs & the NRL start taking the media & the gold digging women & men looking for a fast dollar to task & make them pay in a court of law for their lies?

You are not far from the mark Reefy with the regard to the media reporting but I will just clarify a couple of things.

Bird is an important part of the Sharks finals campaign.

Until he is found or pleads guilty, IMO he should take his place back in the squad.

This is the best way of making some good of the incident. Squeeze a positive out of it because its crap now.

Why should the sharks and their fans suffer for Birds alleged wrong.

The law will catch up with him soon enough.

Until then, I say, business as usual.

And I actually dont like him for his martene indiscretion.

I’ve been really impressed with zaps and IF the club can resist sacking him until the case has been heard at court then I’m sure zaps will make his judgment regarding his future purely on what he knows not what the media have said/ told him

I like most of your points but,

So the way it stands is this;

The news have reported that Greg Bird glasses his girlfriend.

'most probably' does not consitute FACT

The news have reported that Greg Birds neighbours said there was a loud thud. This followed by greg Bird in the foyer with Milligan. She said why did you do this to me? he said I didn't do this to you.

Fact. There was lots more said than that. Was the thud the door closing when he was hurrying to get her to the hospital? What else was said by the neighbours? Why aren't the news reporting it?

I thought he said stop being an idiot first, then she said why did you this to me, he said I didn't etc.
FTR If someone harmed themself to that extent I would tell them to stop being an idiot too. OR If I had thrown a glass against a wall and didn't see that part of the smashed glass had hurt her, I would probably tell her to stop being an idiot if she was cowering on the ground or covering her face as I would be unaware of her injuries.

Also, since when does a glass smashing make a 'thud'?

Fact: Due to the media being liars & the population being force fed their lies we have now lost one of our best players.

When do clubs & the NRL start taking the media & the gold digging women & men looking for a fast dollar to task & make them pay in a court of law for their lies?

Yeah they have a history of this and this one has certainly been blown out of proportion by the journo's desire to see themselves on the front page.

Want a laugh? Read Paul Kent's article on the front page of todays tele. The guy's a moron.

Theres lots to play out in this saga and I don't think the public will ever know the full truth.

Personally I am without doubt that Bird has done something wrong, probably very wrong. But I wouldn't care to guess what just yet. Not based on the media rubbish anyway and I definately wouldn't hang the bloke.

IF, just IF he turns out to be relatively innocent in all this compared to the way he has been portrayed he is still ruined because of the crap we have been dished up inthe media.

Poor form and I hope he & the club can do something about it if that turns out to be the case.

Media outlets have been sending Miss Milligan floral arrangements with cards offering to be able to assist her in any way shape or form with contact numbers etc. etc.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

If they've had an argument, which happens to all of us.........a glass thrown or whatever which has hit her which shouldn't have happened....would we all be paraded in public and lose all rights, our job etc etc BEFORE this girl has made a statement?

it is not uncommon for charges to be laid without a victims statement

happens commonly in murder cases for example

I would think that in my job I would be suspended if I was charged with serious criminal offences. I might even be sacked just on the basis of being charged. I don't think suspension from playing is anything unexpected or unusual just because he is an NRL player. He still has his rights. He is still being paid. I don't think this part of his treatment is especially unusual or harsh.

The publicity about it is directly due to his profile. Hard, I suppose, but thats part of the price he pays for the big $$$$.

is there any reports / sources stating the current medical condition of the victim

hence some posts have been moderated for the time being

please remember to source a claim, otherwise depending on the context and nature it is deemed 'unsubstantiated'

I don't understand that Spider. Nobody knows the condition publicly. Not us nor the media. The media is unsubstantiated by saying her face was fractured & they lied about it. Why is it still allowed to be in print?

im looking at it from a libellous view

if its in print and sourced / linked - no problem, its part of the members guidelines

but an outright statement of any version / incident needs to be carefully stated

there is still the feedom to post any view, expression - if its done so in the correct manner when it has no source
