Yes this is a very bad situation - but if Laffranchi was not stood down whilst rape/sa charges were pending I cannot see why GB should be stood down, say, if the case is adjourned to October and he is granted conditional bail. I don't think there is any arguement for GBH as being a more serious allegation that sexual assault/rape?

This of course is not to make light of these events at all - I just get the feeling, if a 'not guilty' or if no plee is entered, this 'dilemma' of a decision will be the new arguement in league circles and forums alike.

This cant be happening - it is truly unbelievable.
Like a Saints supporter once said to me, CS....we are cursed. It's karma for breaking away from them.
I just hope they wait to see if Bird is found guilty before they axe him. Not like Latu who was cut prior to legal proceedings.
I don't know the circumstances but sometimes women's tongues can be extremely vitriolic; some blokes can't handle this and lash out, thus destroying their lives. Bloody shame all this. Still we should be used to disappointments. We are Cronulla supporters. :(

latu was axed as a result of his admission of the incident

i dont see any difference in that context

they will have to tear up his contract

We don't know the full story obviously, and the media love to beat up 'bad boy' nrl players. I say we let him play until he fronts court.

I can't say more without sounding mysogenistic.

I am curious - How do the media find out what happened in the interview when no statement has been made by the police, club or bird himself?

Only point it makes was a female was hit but didn't say who.

from first article in this thread -

Bird has been charged with maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm

media would not print that without confirmation from police in some form
