And not getting paid?????

He can get paid all he wants, it has to go on the cap. He isn’t forgoing a cent, he will still get paid his contract in full, however it will be spread out Over years through some dodgy job that doesn’t exist.

He can still have a job at Souths for the next 18 months, however he should be paid his playing contract and it goes onto the cap. After the 18 months he can get a job for life that doesn’t go on the cap.

Do you not understand how easy this is to Rort? What is stopping a club offering say Adam Reynolds a 12 year $10mil contract ? Then after 8 he retires, runs water for the next few years on $200k a year. Once his contract expires he gets some admin role on $1mil a year.

Rubbish!

How many players have forsaken their own contracts?

He could have taken the 1.5 million AND he would still get a job.

You can't put money on the cap that isn't being paid.

This is no different to a player retiring then taking up a coaching job like fitter.

I’m sorry, I blame myself. This is clearly beyond your comprehension. I apologize, really.

Young was being brought down and totally blindsided. Any idea that he could "sidestep" is dumb as f**k.

That said it was more a timing issue than anything on GIs part to be fair

Diasgree with this. Do you think if it was one on one and the centre didnt already have hold of Young that Inglis would have tried to shoulder charge him? he saw and easy cheap shot and he took it.

Seems some are so salty they want payments which haven't been made included in clubs' caps.

he has a Contract to play which is under the Salary Cap.

What is to stop Roosters signing Cooper Cronk next year for a 4 year Contract for $5M and then at the end of next year they all say, you know what I retire?

You mean to say, that a club with an underperforming, highly paid player, wouldn’t find creative ways to get him off their books?

Say it ain’t so!

Didn’t Gasnier do something similar. Was getting paid 60k or something like that for the season in which they won the comp, same year storm were out for cap rorts

What would be typical of the NRL is not only to overlook this obvious cap rorting scheme, but probably top up Gregs payment. Im serious.

The NRL will wait for said fantasy rort and judge it on its merit there and then.

Probably.

What I meant was the timing of the fall/hit. I don't think he meant to smash Young in the face. Sure he probably wanted a cheap big shot, but not to knock Young's skull out through his ear hole.

Anyway I was agreeing with you...lol. No way he could have stepped that.

So it’s now being reported that Inglis will be paid $300k a year for an off field role at Souths.

Let’s get this straight:

* walks away from a $1.5mil contract to give Souths salary cap relief

* gets a $300k a year job in Souths office for let’s say, ohh I don’t know, 5 years?

* NRL sign off on it

And people are trying to say this doesn’t stink?
How does this affect the cap? They could pay Inglis $5 million a year off field and it still wouldn’t matter to the cap if he never plays again

People seem not to realise that the Tigers promises to Farah could act as an extra inducement for him to come back.

Inglis is not coming back.

If heavily back-loaded contracts have been stamped out I can't see how Souths or any club benefits from signing a bloke for 4 years on big money to then have to pay them f**kloads for nothing whether on the cap or not.

If you're offering a bloke 4 years and only expecting 1 or 2 that merkin is shot already.
