Big difference between News journalists that write sh*t about Souths, Inglis, Crowe and Mundine and a photographer. Besides, the photographer might have been a freelancer.
Ever heard of editorial staff plonker? Do you think that the journalists or photographers just file copy and put ever they want in the papers? The editorial staff that oversees the content of the paper are the ones setting your so called anti souths agenda. That IQ of yours can't be 36, it must 6.

After he wins this week's fight he is going to fight a champion that will make Mundine the first person in history to be world champion 3 times while going down in weight. Noone has ever done that before. Then he will move to the US to go for the big fights.

Everybody criticises him for not going after the big fights. Well he is now. And for years he's been giving Australian boxers a chance, giving the sport profile in this country. Now he's going to spend the rest of his career going after the big guns and he will be a great

THE NRL has ''more questions to ask'' about Greg Inglis's deal with South Sydney, and a decision on whether the contract will be accepted in its current form will be delayed until next week.

''I'm sure this situation must be frustrating for Greg, but it is a unique situation for the league to deal with as well,'' NRL chief executive David Gallop said yesterday.

''He had two more years to run on his contract with Melbourne, for a certain value, and was also very close to signing with the Broncos, so we need to fully understand what led to the change of position and what constitutes his remuneration to play football at Souths.

''The message that is given time and time again is make sure you get your third-party arrangements sorted out before you go too far with players and contracts, and certainly this is a situation where that message is most important.

''Announcing that players are signed with clubs should not be done until you have actually got everything in place. Everyone accepts that third-party agreements are the most difficult part of the salary cap, but if rules weren't there players could be paid by third parties and there would be no point in having a salary cap.

''We have received some information about the third-party agreements lodged by Souths, but we have got more questions to ask. Everyone in the game, including Souths, would expect nothing less than a thorough investigation of this situation.''

Gallop's comments are the clearest indication yet that if the league believes at least some of the third-party deals were used to induce Inglis to sign - as opposed to having been negotiated after he had agreed to terms - then those deals were effectively guaranteed by the club.

That would result in Inglis being counted at a higher figure under the cap than the one lodged by Souths.

Under the current terms of the deal, Inglis is to be paid $190,000 under the cap for the first year, plus a car valued at $25,000 and a marquee-player allowance of $100,000. Four third-party deals worth a total of $200,000 come on top of that.

In the second and third years of the back-ended contract, the payment under the cap rises to $350,000 while everything else stays the same.

Souths lodged the Inglis contract with the league on Friday, November 26, which means that after today salary cap auditor Ian Schubert will have been examining it for two weeks. Souths were hoping for a decision this week, but will now have to bide their time.

''We've had no indication of when there will be a decision,'' chief executive Shane Richardson said yesterday.

There has been much speculation about the nature of the contract since Souths co-owner Russell Crowe appeared on American TV last month and revealed Inglis would be paid $1.8 million over three years.

It is not clear whether Souths would have to shed one of their other players to fit Inglis under the cap if the league raised the figure at which he would be counted.

Meanwhile, Timana Tahu's departure from Parramatta is likely to be confirmed tomorrow. It is understood the Eels management has been negotiating a payout with a Tahu representative on his contract for next year.

Tahu was recently granted leave from training to deal with what have been described as complex personal issues, and is believed to have sought to be further excused until February. But the club was not prepared to grant that extra time while the rest of the squad did pre-season work.

Sounds like Souths going off early could very well cost them the Inglis deal.

The third party deals are a sham. If Gallop thinks that they are all at arms length then he is deluded. There will be very few IF ANY that any club hasn't induced to some extent.

Why the bloody hell else would the third parties get involved otherwise?

some obviously are at arms length like the ones which saw gasnier and wing leave the nrl, but i do agree with you a lot are related to the clubs the players go to. the argument is that the club CANNOT Guarantee the money

in saying that it's still amateur hour at souths if they didnt think inglis' contract would eb the most scrutinised in RL history given what happened at the storm

and mundine. suck sh*t you league bashing twig. maybe if you spent less time bagging the sport the made you and actually training you wouldnt get knocked out by someone from reality tv

They were and they weren't. I don't know about Gasnier but Wing certainly blamed the club to some extent for him not getting his payments.

The deals certainly do not remain arms length deals either if they are part of an inducement for a player to play or remain at a club. If they are part of the decision either way then they are linked and the club (any club) will do what it takes to secure them.

There is no point in a salary cap with these type of deals being available to select clubs. The Broncos being the most obvious beneficiaries over the years. Nothing illegal per se but certainly not within the spirit of the salary cap.

Mundine was very right when he talked about haterism. I sense a lot of haterism coming from Dragons fans. Your brief period in the sun will be promptly ended by the next great Souths era of domination, and so your very insecure.

Well aren’t you the pessimist. I certainly hope the Dragons reign ends well before the next “souffs era of domination”. 2764 is a long time to wait for the dragons downfall.

5 years ago you stupid merkin

plenty of time to shake the loser out of your system

Loser? Do you mean like when you and your mates go down to that dump Kogarah, followed up by taking your slappers across to Sizzler for a slap up meal?

Without StMerge fans, Sizzlers would be in liquidation, says it all really.
