If the sponsor has dealt directly with Inglis' manager, honestly what grounds do the NRL have to knock it back? This is starting to look bad for everyone involved. Souths for sh*t talking before getting anything checked and the NRL for blocking money from entering the game on dubious grounds.

The whole thing is a massive circus and highlights the difference between the people running the NRL and AFL.

We only have to look at how efficiently the AFL are cleaning thier current mess as opposed to the sideshow that is the NRL.

The only thing that is saving rugby league from being over run by the AFL is that rugby league is a better sport to watch.

We did do the right thing you idiot. You keep ignoring the important bits that everyone is quoting, like where multiple sponsors say they did the deals the right way, not through souths. That's why people "keep blaming" the NRL. They f**ked this up out of sheer incompetence.

Have a read of the papers. They are almost universally against the NRL on this issue, and we know from past history they are hardly supportive of us, so the criticism is fair. Anyone with a brain can see they f**ked up.

I thought that people who didn't buy your bullsh*t hook, line and sinker were 'fools', now progressed to 'idiot' I see. Clearly Souths didn't do the right thing per se (I think that's French, so I'll spell it a way your 136 IQ can understand it, purse aye), otherwise the deal would be done now, wouldn't it? People, like you, keep blaming the NRL because it's easier than facing facts. It's your clubs management that has demonstrated incompetence from the get go. You don't seem to get that it's not up to the sponsors to determine the right or wrong way to do a deal, so their quotes on the matter are meaningless. Their views on the matter are irrelevant. They offer up the loot, and it's up to the club to apportion it accordingly, that is salary cap or 3PA. Souths f**ked it up. That's something that would be clear to anyone with a brain son, the outcome supports it. I don't ignore the sponsors quotes, I dismiss them because they are pap.
So now the papers are a source of pure truth because they support your jaundiced view, but when they're agin ya they're rubbish. You seem to have the market cornered in foolishness and idiocy. Clearly tired and emotional from a heavy dose of uni hols. Less time on the computer and more fresh air for you would be a breath of fresh air for all of us. Get some sun, go easy on the blockout.

It all good to say face the facts, but where are they?

Stat decs were supplied to the NRL stating the sponsorships had no bearing on who Inglis played for and that the deals were arranged directly with Inglis and his manager.
The NRL knocked back the deal saying south organised the 3pa's therefore they must be included in the cap.
So who is lying? sponsors with signed stat decs or Ian Schubert who has produced no evidence to suggest souths organised the deals to entice Inglis to souths.

If Ian Schubert comes out with some facts and evidence stating souths organised the 3pa's I will gladly face them.

That won't happen though Haha. Schubert doesn't have to be accountable to us, the fans. It's never been a part of what he has to do. The club has to be accountable to the NRL. They have to get it right. That is what should have been done, privately, before all of the parading around and public statements on talk shows. Get the deal done behind the scenes, get the back and forth argey bargey done between the relevant parties away from the public eye. Get it right, and approved, and then go public. As has been said before, this is how it was done with Gasnier. Scuttlebutt (unsubstantiated, unsourced) is that their were multiple iterations of the deal that were put to the NRL before it was approved. That's why it took so frustratingly long.
Again, the fact that the sponsors have supplied stat decs clearly isn't sufficient to suggest that the deals are acceptable. Otherwise the deal would be stitched up, wouldn't it? We don't know what the stat decs say, what the NRL requires them to say, or how they pertain to the legitimacy of the 3PAs. Clearly it's not as simple as 'he said, she said'. It's more complex than being that black and white surely. These are a part of some of the facts that need to be faced.
You're a fan, are you happy with the way your club has handled this?

even the sharks beat the roosters twice in 2010.

the sharks beating the roosters is a good litmus test to whether or not the roosters are going to have a good year.

2010 - Sharks beat us. We make grand final
2009 - we beat sharks. We get the sppon
2008 - Sharks beat us. We come 4th
2007 - We beat sharks. We miss the finals
2006 - We beat sharks. We miss the finals

You're a pure entertainer aint ya mate?
And you're a pure ignorer of facts aint ya mate? I've said countless times if Souths don't get him I'd rather he go to another NRL club instead of AFL, a lot of other people have the sh*tty attitude that they'd rather he f**k off to AFL than join Souths, those people make me sick. And any true rugby league fan would feel the same.

He aint going to AFL. I'll give you 10-1
Thats what I swore black and blue about Folau, and he wasnt burning 40 grand a month sitting on the sidelines

Timescales are compressed on this one, and this will all be resolved one way or the other in the next few weeks

They wont offer him that kind of money.

The two who did go went to clubs in rugby league heart land, and tried to generate headlines. People are more likely to tune into a brand new team in their local area with a NRL star, then one in Melbourne they already hate.

GI won't get anywhere near the type of money they were getting.

Different circumstance though, the AFL were starting a new team in League Heartland and needed a star player.

The type of money that Inglis can earn in the NRL compared to what will be available in the AFL combined with the time til start of the sesaon (three months), means its just a shameless orchestrated media stunt by Souths and Inglis to try to force the NRL's hand.

you honestly think that just because a clubs name is not on a 3rd party deal that a portion of it is not attributable to the salary cap.

If that was the case, there would be no real salary cap at all

Your both wrong. The talk is he'll get the exact same outside the cap marketing bonuses that Folau and Hunt got. If he goes he'll be getting a million a year. And it's not like it's a stretch, Demetriou has money to burn, he'd love to give about 700k of it as a big FU to the NRL.

What a sh*tty offer. Sportsbet is paying close to 40-1. Glad you aren't running it.

Edit: Checked and your offer is better than they are 7.5-1

My apologies and retract my sh*tty offer comment and now commend you for giving such generous odds.

There is no way a club like Essendon would make Inglis there highest paid player, they are one of the big four Melbourne clubs in membership and money making, there would be nothing to gain from them doing this.

Its pure game playing by Inglis, Souths and his management.

There's a rustle about that one of the 3 Rabbitohs mentioned to be leaving if GI plays there, today penned a 3 year deal with the Sharks!
Plus the storm rumours, we just need 1 of them to come true and Inglis is a Rabbitoh. No thanks to the NRL.

Although, the Sharks? Bloody hell, I pity the bloke. Hope he's on good money.

Essendon wouldn't make him their highest paid player. He'd be on about 200-300k under their cap, roughly the average afl wage. The vast majority of it would be marketing money directly from the AFL, so it doesn't take any money away from other players. That's how the AFL (and GWS/the Suns) justified paying Folau and Hunt so much.

There was obvious gain in Hunt and Folau playing for there QLD AND NSW teams that have NO interest for there local media.

What is there to be gained by Inglis playing for Essendon?? More members, No More sponsorship, No More media coverage, No.

Haha I love this, weve had to lose a player to have salary cap space to sing another. NO THANKS TO THE NRL. Well actually its 100% because of the NRL that this reasonable result may have been reached.

You'd better hope so for your sake too, otherwise no Inglis for the bunnies.
