so to break even, we needed around 60,000 people all up so far to the 7 games we've had.

now lets see here

our 7 crowds this year for us have equalled 95,629, a meagre 35,629 more than needed to break even.

After all 9 home games are completed we'd be looking to try and have had a total home crowd figure around 76,500.

We are already above that and still have 2 games to go to add on top.

I cannot see how the management can even state that we are running at a loss.
One poor crowd in terrible conditions against a team that never pulls crowds anywhere (home or away), and straight away management decide we're doomed and have to switch to Telstra.

Sounds dodgey to me.

Who knows where those figures miraculously appear from?

Against Melbourne we needed lights and had a poor crowd. How we lose money with close to a packed house on a day game is beyond me. We are seeking some answers to these questions in the next day or so.

If anyone reads or hears ANY quotes from any WT officials about the costs of running a game can they please email them to me. I am very interested in every little detail because we will be doing our own research too.

The Friday night game would of made us break close to even - night games is what kills us because of the lighting - Friday night games we should never try and get in the future unless they are at an away venue because of how much it costs us.

Channel 9 use to actually pay for the cost of lights at venues but since the NRL has taken over that all has changed and something I wish we once again had the luxury of because I know we wouldn't be speaking about this now if that was the case

we are running a loss when we play both the storm and cowboys, and they have a solution that guarantees they make a profit against those teams instead of a certain loss.
they now add over 250k to their bottom line.

that is money the tigers need to strengthen their playing roster.
i seem to remember a shitload of people going on about how shit our roster was and will be next year.

so what is it going to be,have a roster that is way under the cap and not playing in september so you can watch the storm and cowboys with 5000 others at home,or a team that has a genuine chance to compete in september and go to telstra to watch the tigers play the cowboys and storm with a crowd just as shit as cambo or leichhardt with less atmosphere.

Why are they taking 6 games then? What other revenue have they looked at? They can have the Storm and Cowboys games. Have they investigated the more far reaching consequences of this decision. Like building a fan base, corporate sponsors and things that come with winning and playing in a ground with atmosphere?

Why did the Dragons turn down the exact same deal, if not a more lucrative one? Because they respect their fans and understood the other consequences could be disasterous. Why don't the Bulldogs play there anymore?

Sincas..........Noyce said yesterday that while the crowd was 3 times bigger on friday night, the cost of having to hire more of this and that, security being a good example and also to cater for a bigger crowd, mean the club really only broke even. Im not sure on the actualy figures and costs for friday night but he mentioned those things.

you have to ask the dragons and dogs, not me mate.
the tigers financial position is alot weaker than both of those clubs, the dogs spent more than the cap remember and the dragons would if allowed as well.
the tigers though can not even spend the full cap.
the tigers are desperate, and this is a desperate move to play a total of 6 home games away.

we already played 3 away this year with good success on and off the field, and now they have added the storm, cowboys and probably the panthers.

do i wish they could find another way to bring in the dollars,of course, but i'm not going to spend my time on here cursing and kicking up a stink.
i'm just trying to be a little positive as i am sick of the negative shit around here every week.

all i am doing is trying to find out what some of you are prepared to do to become competetive, especially after reading the bitching and crying here during our month off losses.

Its very hard to know just what to do....especially now that we see that people that WERE 'out there' doing something to benefit Wests Tigers, have been bent over and f**ked up the arse by the very people they were trying to help.

Why would anyone wanna do something to "help"....when we can see they dont give a f**k about us.

I will goto telstra next year....but seeing as theyre guaranteed an income, io dont see how my going or not going will "help".

well if money's guaranteeed then we could do that, if it doesnt hurt the club where they want to be sucessful (finances), then any protest would be a good idea.

well then it depends on what sort of supporter you are.
of course some of it is for your own personal pleasure and entertainment, but surely you are also there to support the players as well.

as you know my situation is different to the majority here, not having the opportunity to go and see the tigers since the merger has me with the attitude that i would see them play anywhere where it is possible for me to travel to see the tigers.

so obviously i will see things a little different to all of you.and then on another level the difference is even bigger when compared with the guys with stop the rot.

when i first heard the news my first reaction was concern that we must be in big trouble if we have to give up even more home grounds to make ends meet.
this is not something the wests tigers board would take pleasure in doing.
i don't have the anger that alot of you do,more like concern for our financial viability.

Mate, we shouldn't need to! We are being forced down this path cause they've done nothing to fix up leichhardt for starters (they should have been addressing these issues years ago), they have made an art form of mismanagement, made no attempts to create greater revenue streams, and basically hooked up with the first slurry to turn up with a fat wallet and disregard the heart, history and the fans of this club.. Your right, your situation is different to mine, as is your opinion!

True riff, this is the clubs fault, that Being Balmain and Wests Tigers, current and former management together are to blame. Its pretty sad that it takes the fans of the club to do something about this, for which we are all grateful for.

The whole issue is a disgrace!Leichardt Oval even half full is a cauldron and Campbelltown is starting to become the same way.If a full time move to Homebush eventuates the merged club will have folded within 5 years!

Add to this for Campbeltown fans they built a new stadium that was meant to have been designed to meet the criteria yet dosn't and on top of which they still need to spend $40k to pay for bloody lighting instead of $18k it would of cost if the stadium already had sufficent lighting in the first place - and of course dare we mention the scoreboard!!!!

The Wests Tigers to me look like they are running away from the problems they have - sure they are making arguments to say it is smart to move and I agree on certain grounds however I don't agree on the fact that they are willing to through away supporters just so they can make what an extra $200k if that a year and where will that go ????? Who knows us fans won't see it thats for sure!

i love my tigers, always have.

ive followed balmain all my life, as alot of all the great supporters have here with wests and balmain alike in the past.

if in 2000 when we merged we were told we wouldnt play a game at leichhardt i would feel its not balmain anymore, and im sure you western suburbs fans are the same...

fact is this has happened to balmain in the past... most fans will remember a period when balmain played from parra stadium...

does anyone know why we moved back to leichhardt???

it was because the fans rejected it, and did not go to the games...

now i love my footy, and goin and watching my tigers play, but we are the fans, and we must speak in numbers...

is it possible anyone could organise petitions to not move 2 telstra stadium, or play games away from home? and if they ignore, the only way the club will learn is if telstra games are boycotted... and the few home games we have are packed... fact is, if there are no fans paying 2 get into telstra, the guaranteed money will fast dry up, as the telstra trust will not pay the tigers for long to play there...

what do the other fans think???
