Have the Tigers convinced Moltzen to stay? Release sought from his Saints contract

Moltzen was gutless rubbish before the finals. Refused to run the ball back and was terrible under the bomb or ball bouncing low with defenders bearing down. His abscence would have been a benefit for mine.

I just want him gone but Timmy made up his mind he wanted to stay with Benji etc. Before round 23 he was looking at houses in the Gong but this stopped and he has gone to ground.

Please just release him so we can move forward

It honestly amazes me how overrated Moltzen is: to suggest we would have missed the 8 without him is utter garbage.

Admittedly, he played pretty well in the finals but I could count how many passable games he played this year on one hand. For 90 per cent of the season he was a liability.

I also hope he is released.

Haha! So true. At least you've now been schooled in the correct spelling. 'Humphries' would be proud of you.

But I don't think Doust idol worships Humphreys in the same manner that you do r2groupie. Or are you a fraud?

Yes, you've learned us westies well!

Love you work Willow.:D

Simple explanation. Benji talks up Moltzen to his 9 mates Johns and Fitler who go into overspooge every time he runs into a hole someone else creates or makes one out of 6 effective fullback tackles

Hopefully the NRL schedules us to play each other in round 1. No matter what ultimately happens with Moltzen, it will add a bit of extra to spice to what is normally a fairly firey game to start with it.

The funny thing about Tigers fans not wanting Moltzen because he "was a liability for the first half of the season", or "only played well towards the end and during the finals" is that Tigers as a team in general do that during the Premiership anyway. They start slow, everyone makes fun of them for being diabolical, then during and after Origin they kick on and hit form leading into the finals.

Moltzen's performances were a carbon copy of the entire Wests Tigers side.

See we initially though the same but over time it became clear it was more than that.

In particular the metal plate in the back of his head from his junior football days on the CC. When you have a fullback who has (an understandable) aversion to diving for a contested ball on the ground you have a major issue.

As a half he plays like a pivot. He is naturally a selfish player and when he played in the halves in attacking patterns he ran his centres and wingers out of room and spoiled the manoeuvres or always went for the glory option himself when better football would have seen points.

He may be the perfect fit for the Dragons but I see him as a hindrance to the Wests Tigers overall for not only the reasons above but also for his lack of supporting through the ruck for the forwards and the stifling of Benji's game where he often will cut out the half for entire sets and we suffer as a result

Just get it sorted. IMO, this is business and the Tigers have that on their side. If this is the way its always been done between clubs, then it obviously won't be going forward.

Clubs are back training in a few weeks. Saints don't need this shit hanging over their heads. Fins some common ground with the Tigers if he doesn't want to leave and have his money at the ready for the Four Nations. Hypothetically, approach Tompkins, offer him Moltzens moulah and get the Tigers to contribute to his release fee or something and move on.

Hey guys remember that time Luke Lewis nearly went to Souths and then didn't? That was fantastic. Especially for Luke Lewis.

Timid before it too. He's never put his body on the line, which as a fullback he needs to do. Most Tigers fans didn't want him anywhere near the fullback jersey mid-2009, well before his knee surgery.

Look no further than the Inu try that knocked you out in the semi-final.

Sorta like Shane Elford going to Souths from WTs, and then he didnt?
That was something, I think...especially for someone.

Are you saying he put his body on the line there?
What ARE you saying?

Look at the Mateo try same game, where mateo runs thru Lui, then runs thru Moltzen sending him spinning....Tim really needed to blame someone there....and he did. Sprayed Lui for an effort as pathetic as his own

I'm saying he was there clutching at nothing when he should have smashed Inu.

Watch the Hayne chip and chase try which all but ended our season in 2009. Moltzen hangs back, then realises he HAS to make a play at the ball, runs there, when he sees Hayne got the bounce instead of putting his body on the line, he flaps his arm around as if he's going to tap it over Hayne's head and run 80 and score. A good fullback would've either made a play at the ball, or made a play at the man.

There were still a few players who were playing well even when the side itself was playing poorly.

At the end of the day Moltzen is a downhill skier with no ticker. He is no "star" as the media or other people here seem to be suggesting. To say we wouldn't have made the 8 without him is absolutely f**king ridiculous, what a laugh.

I've neve thought Moltzen was the right for for us anyway. He's a five-eighth.

Anyway what would I know. I've only watched him play in every Tigers game this year. Sounds to me like some only watched the finals and based their opinion on two games.
