Have the Tigers convinced Moltzen to stay? Release sought from his Saints contract

I have seen mentions (Madunit) that Lui & Moltzen were at the end of their minimum contratcs (approx 55k) & apparently we offered him close to 200k. There is a shortfall of 90k. I can't see the Tigers having 90k spare. I think they might move Lote on if the reports are accurate.

They would have to be considering it, Lote was absolutely terrible during the finals especially

It's probably known by most, but Moltzen is Benji's flatmate & has the same manager.

To be fair to him, he had been sidelined for a while with an injury. Not easy to get back and perform at top level, especially in the finals...

Yep, fair point as well. Just a long, long way from the force he was imo.

I doubt Moltzen will play with us next seaso, but the good news is it seems like Lui will get the flick. Given our halfback options for next year I guess it would be nice if he stayed, but he's hardly a world beater.

Firstly, I don't want Moltzen back. I'm one of very few it seems. IMO he's overrated.

Secondly, Moltzen isn't a halfback. So I don't think Lui has anything to do with this. Moltzen does not have a kicking game, he is not an organiser. He is merely a good runner of the ball.

IMO the guy played about half a dozen passable games this season, the rest of the time he was utter rubbish.

Good games were at the back end of the season tho, as he regained confidence post knee reco.

Thought Miller was highly rated by the Tigers as the halfback option

I don't want the Tigers to pay 400k (apparent figure) to the Dragons for Moltzen. Let the Dragons have him.

If Lui wasn't in the position he is now, would he still be asking for a release? It is convienent some cash will be freed up.

Dragons should stick with thier guns on this - even with some compo, they wiill be down a player for next year and there isn't exactly a lot of quality around on the free market. If Moltzen wants to stay, the Dragons should be able to demand another Tigers player.

He wasn't even that good at the end of the season, he would make a line break then throw the ball away or not find the support man. The only time I was upset he was going during our late run was after the Dragons semi (his best game this season), but after his effort to stop the Inu try that changed. He's an average first grader, and there are plenty of better fullbacks than him. I would have him back to play halfback for a year if Miller isn't ready yet, otherwise we don't really need him, Brown is every bit as capable as Moltzen at the back.

"Tim Moltzen and his Manager have signed a three-year deal with the Dragons," said Doust.

"We have not had any conversations or received any other information from either Tim or his Manager that would suggest he would not be at the Dragons in 2012."

If he doesn't want to join us next year then he can get f**ked and stay with the Tigers

Not saying I wouldn't like him at the club, but if he doesn't want to be a Dragon no point forcing him..

Tigers now saying they have still not even released him from his deal that was due to expire after next year... if thats the case, you'd think he'll be at the tigers next year.

Tigers haven't released him so he has signed two contracts?

This may well end badly for him. Surely they granted him permission to sign with Saints, did they say anything at the time or at any time until now about it?
