But wasn't Gibbs classed as a Grade 2?

How can this be judged as a Grade 1 given the above precedent? Carry over points dont mean anything when judging the seriousness of the incident.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard  Just because Gibbs got a grade 2 this had to be a grade 2? There were plenty of grade 1 charges all year including Brett Finch who took an early plea and played for you the next week!!! Take your hand off it

Gibbs. Poor Bugger. This is so so so wrong. The truth is Gibbs knees hit Burts bum before Burt even hits the ground.

What a sick joke. Hope Parra lose by 40.

Nrl Glamour Boy Hayne, such a pussy going in late with his knees. I guarantee if this was any other player they would have been given a minimum of two weeks.

Well then we aren't gonna agree on this. Because I think accidental contact with the head is a part of the game, and all these rules are just ruining the game. I like the game to be tough, like it was in the good old days.

We have to agree to disagree.

I think the right decision was made today.
True, just mad that it took the judiciary till this years GF to realize they're ruining the game coz they could of rubbed out this years best player from the biggest game of the year

To all the whingers, Cameron Smith last year got a grade 1, the same as Hayne. He missed the GF because of his carry over points. Hayne had no carry overs.

Gibbs would have only got 1 week if he didn't have carry overs, and got 3 because he contested it and lost. His charge was greater than Hayne's because he dropped knees on a player who had the ball and dived in to score. Hayne was going in to a contest where the ball was on the ground from a kick. No comparison.

Now piss off you bunch of sooks.

This man speaks the truth. 100% correct decision on both counts.

So wrenching someone's arm back is a nothing incident? Remember what happened to Cameron Smith last year? Same general movement, different part of the body ...

Hang on there, get your facts right.

Smith received the exact same charge. Grade 1. However he had to many carry over points.

Just shows that Jarryd is not as dirty player as most as he only has 20 carry over points.

Enough said.

Slow-mo video replay has had more detriment to the game than any players drunken misdemeanor. Watch either of those incidents with Hayne or Keating in real time and you'll see that both players have less than a second to react to the situation - insufficient time to change the position of your body, let alone make a decision about the appropriate course of action for such a challenge for the ball. Slow motion replay gives the illusion that players have the time to stop, evaluate the situation, and turn on a dime. Remember when De Las Heras got obliterated by Toni Carrols knee? That slow motion replay, although fun to watch, looked much worse than the regular vision.
Lets apply some common sense and some real-time to our footy.

What makes me laugh here, is that most here are call the Eels cheats, scum, whatever, whatever.

This decision was NOT made by the Eels Admin in anyway shape or form.

You should be taking it up with the judiciary or the NRL. Not the Eels.

There is no way that anyone here can say that Hayne is a cheat/dirty player.

Have a look at his carry over point. 20.

Every teams has their one or two dirty players however for some on here to call Hayne dirty and what them out of the game is pissed at him due to his popularity and performance on the field.

This is a totally difference matter and should not be discussed in the thread.
If you don't like him because he makes/made your team look like that were standing still just say so.

We are all entitled to our own opinion.

And encase it is not clear.

YES I AM A PARRAMATTA EELS FAN:lol:

LU's dumbf**k population is out in force today. Learn to understand the system please.

Hayne got a Grade 1 and was in fact found guilty of it via the early plea.

Gibbs got a Grade 2 i believe and copped 3 weeks because of carryover points.

The 2 instances were dissimilar because Gibbs hit a player who had been continuously in possession as he crossed the line to score the try, while Hayne was contesting a rolling ball.

However Hayne did commit an indiscretion and the judiciary acknowledged it, but because of his cleanskin record he didnt get suspended. The incident was punished on the field by an 8 point try as well.

So all in all, i think justice has been done. Let's move on to the Grand Final and stop bitching, because it should be an awesome game.

Quite obviously its rigged. One rule for some teams and players and one for the others. If I was Melbourne (remember Smiths suspension from last year) I would be screaming.

And in case you are wondering I am a Souths fasn

Smith was charged with the same charge as Jarryd but Smith had carry over points which from an early guilty plea earlier in the year. The NRL is being consistant, Hayne was dangerous in his action but there was no intent and he was going for the ball but got himself in a bad position. M.Keating tried to tackle a bloke twice his size from head on but was palmed away and so he grabbed the arm which got it in a award potion when Hannat came down, there was no second movement or anything and was accidental so it should have not even been charged.

I think its you who is missing the point. Its got NOTHING to do with carry over points.

Now - lets assume both Hayne and Gibbs had zero carry over points.

Ok - look at both incidents side by side and EXPLAIN how the MRC Grades Bryce Gibbs' indiscretion as a GRADE 2 versus GRADE 1 for Hayne?

That is the issue - nothing else matters.

I can tell you what led to this decision on GRADING for Hayne - pressure to ensure Jarryd Hayne was free to play. It reaks of double standard. I'd like the MRC to explain the difference in grading without looking like a bunch of incompetent fools.

Parramatta has got out of jail - and the NRL and the Sydney factions must be rubbing there hands together with glee.

Gibbs dropped his knees into a player ahead of him who already had the ball and dived in to score a try. Hayne was sliding into a contest where the ball was on the ground from a kick, so it wasn't as if he was lining Goodwin up for it. Pretty obvious distinction really.
