Hayne at fullback for blues?

With Wing being ruled out this morning of the Blues team and Josh Morris being added to the bench, you would expect that to mean that they intend to push Gidley to hooker at some point during the match, with Morris shifting to the wing and Hayne at fullback.

Can anyone else see any other justification for having Morris on the bench?

well he was originally there to cover for Lyon I think and has obviously kept his place on an extended bench once Lyon recovered.

you could be right with the positional change..

Yes but why would u carry an outside back on your bench in state of origin. Like i said I think Gidley would be moved to hooker and Hayne is a better fullback than Morris, so he would go back there.

yeah i reckon that will happen, in the 2nd half Gidley to hooker, hayne to fullback, morris to wing.
But we are still too lite on up front. We'll get smashed.

This is very interesting....as AlexTheEel said...carrying an outside back on the bench...

So let me get this straight...the NSW Origin bench will have an outside back, a prop and two backrowers on it?? I don't think that'll be the mix of players on the bench that will help NSW.

One would think an impact/nimble hooker, a hard running back-rower who can offload and two hard props would be a much more successful formula for Origin...

So what happens now, Hayne fullback, Morris wing, Gidley to hooker, Farah to bench?

I don't think that Gidley should go to hooker, although I would have Hayne ahead of him at Fullback, and Farah shouldn't go to the bench either. I understand Morris has trained with the team and I'm not doubting his selection/inclusion because he has earnt it, but I think for a better mix for the team an outside back should not have been selected but rather a hooker/utility.

The problem i can see is that normally they will take the starting hooker off and put him on for the final stages of the game. If that happens than Gidley goes back to fullback, who goes off? Do they take off a fairly fresh Morris or take off another outside back. Maybe they're worried Lyon wont make the 80 mins.

i think we'll lose and if we do the selectors should all stand down, picking players with injury clouds over them what a joke.

morris wont get onto the field until the 60th minute more than likely unless someone goes down with an injury

1. Hayne
2. Morris

14. Gidley

With that selection the coach and the selectors are dead set kidding themselves if they play Morris from the bench.

Should have definitely selected Ennis.

last captain i saw off the bench was glenn lazarus in 99

well to strip gidley of captaincy after one game is pretty harsh

as for cayless well we are talking a completely different kettle of fish grasshopper

if one of the backs is having a barry, bellamy will hook em for morris easy enough

to be honest the only option other than shifting gidley to dummy half, pushing hayne to fb and morris to the wing is, lyon being shifted to 5/8 and either barrett or wallace coming off and morris into the centres

apparantly Gidley will be used as utility from bench, with Hayne to fullback.

They should have brought Ennis or Hornby into the side.

or move Gidley to hooker and bring Farah off the bench.
