Can I please just receive a bit of credit for the entertainment in this thread I created by baiting Gaba?
It's very satisfying to be a Bulldogs fans knowing that the administration completely changed the culture of players bought spent wisely and got it right.
Especially after a number of their 'home grown' stars had walked out on the club leaving them hung out to try.
You'll be waiting a lot longer than 10 years for a team working its way up together to win a comp - that's a thing of the past. Get a grip on reality!
In that case I'll happily keep waiting. The day the Raiders go out and try to buy a whole bunch of first grade players from other clubs is the day my enjoyment in watching them will diminish. I honestly hope that day never comes. A team like the Broncos (and this is burning me to say as I HATE the Broncos) I can understand their fans enjoying a premiership - but the Roosters and now the Bulldogs, I honestly pity them. The soul has been sucked out of their club for a quick fix.

Great attitude and I totally agree. The games support was based on tribalism and thats been lost by some clubs. Dont get me wrong, i will support any player wearing the Blue and Gold, but I would rather watch Daniel Mortimer play for us then Darren Lockyer. We could buy half our team, but aslong as we keep producing players too, it seems fair. Watching Kris Keating make his debut for Parra is special because we have been watching him come through the grades and always knew he was going to make it. Same with Jarryd Hayne, Krisnan Inu and Feleti Mateo.
I look at the Roosters and see a kid Ben Jones who can really make an impact for them at five eight, but now that they have signed Todd Carney and have Anasta and Pearce on long term deals, whats going to happen to Ben Jones who is a good prospect.
He was re-signed a month or two ago to a 3 or 4 year deal, so there is obviously a plan in place where he is involved.

And your theories are all well and good for teams like yours with massive junior bases to pick from. Not so handy when you have a tiny amount of kids to pick from like the Roosters.
Despite that, we have a large amount of kids playing in first grade now who have come through our junior grades in one form or another.
So while your theory may of been correct for a period, but it's not really accurate anymore.
Couldn't agree more. I honestly dont understand how any Bulldogs fan could properly enjoy this year all that much, they have just bought everyone. It's why I never understood the logic behind supporting the Roosters - you just have no connection with the players whatsoever, the vast majority are at your club for a few years and then off to their 5th or 6th club once it's time to sign a new contract.
I'd much rather wait another 10 years for the Raiders to win a premiership with a team that works its way up together than us go for the quick fix and buy a premiership next year.

If its changed, why sign Todd Carney? Why not develop Ben Jones. What person from Roosters management allowed you to sign 3 first grade halves (Pearce, Anasta and Carney) and yet keep Ben Jones aswell? Same person that thought it would be best to sign a kid with a terrible alchohol problem, to a club whose reputation is also currently terrible due to alchohol.
When the Doggies had on and off field problems, they bit the bullet and cleaned out the club of its problem players. Parra now no longer have their main trouble makers in Tim Smith (although it appears he might be back), Mark Riddell and Brett Finch. The Roosters on the other hand appear to be moving backwards and signing more trouble.
paullyboy you need a good dosage of reality. The world has changed. Sport is a business. How many of your Raiders team truly come from Canberra? You'll turn a blind eye to juniors coming from elsewhere so why not turn a blind eye to any other player coming from elsewhere? Juniors make a name for themselves in their own ranks before you buy them. pot ... kettle...
I'll give you a few minutes to go back and read what I said, because clearly you either didn't read it or have a poor ability to comprehend what you've read.
Right, now that you are back, you'll have noticed that I never talked about where juniors coming from as being the issue. The issue is clubs who sign an absolute swag of established first graders from other clubs, and do so on an annual basis creating a revolving door. How could you honestly cheer for one of these players knowing a year ago he was at a rival club and in 2 years he'll be at another rival club? Makes no sense to me and is one of the reasons I never understood how anyone supports Chelsea or Man Utd or any of the big soccer teams.
