He'd have been told he was a good shot of getting drafted I'd say, even if he plays at college level I'd watch him play. Hopefully the Browns pick him up, huge upside, just needs to do some learning.
He's too short to be a TE, imo. Safety, PR/KR or RB would be my guesses.[/QUOTE
No, he doesn't even have a trial with a team. It's going to be a test of his patience & luck to even get this.

Then being realistic, why would a team give him a spot at training camp when he has no experience & subsequently, no actual game footage ? There are plenty with the same physical skills from college & they are 6 years younger.

I wish him all the best & it's admirable to pursue a dream, but I think he'll be back playing for Parramatta by 2016.

Hayne makes a brave decision to quit the sport he would have been the greatest of all time at to pursue his lifelong dream of playing in the NFL and of course all typical negative Aussie Wazn's are saying he will fail, hopefully Waznstralia lose the Four Nations,i certainly won't be cheering for them.

Lets gone England

Honestly I think if he makes it it well be as a gunner on special teams and a part time WR

Yep, Gunner on ST coverage, KR/PR specialist, and #4 WR who runs limited routes... that's his ceiling in the NFL.

His ceiling is a player is the 49-53 range on the roster, a bloke who's roster spot is consistently under pressure

Sorry Hayne, I hope you fail.

If Hayne succeeds, what's to stop the next Hayne/Inglis chasing big money in the NFL? The NRL, even with exemptions, can't compete with NFL money.

Vernon Davis is around the same height but I take your point with guys like Gronk, Graham, Thomas etc a good 5-10 com taller.

Whist he has WR size I don't believe he has WR speed. He looks to be similar size to Demaryius Thomas but that guy has freakish speed. He runs away from defenders. Hayne hasn't got that although someone must see something in him for him to be making this move. I hope he does well.

Vernon Davis as fast as Demayius and just a physical freak of nature

He won't make it - he will be invited to a training camp and will be cut in August. 12 months later, he will be back.

It is good he is following his dream but he has left us in the lurch big time.

Well, that's the downside

if im wrong, and Hayne goes over there is immediately becomes a star player, bad news for this code

Way to keep the off season interesting!

Doubt he'll make it but the guys got balls for trying.

Not been a good year for NRL losing star power. Some big positive announcements for the game would be good Dave.

Yep, and that's the best case scenario

Also, Hayne's arms look very short to me... Vernon Davis has freakishly long arms, which allows him to extend, and make big time catches, his catch radius would be significantly larger than Haynes

Hardly a brave move really .Ultimately it's a very low risk life play with potential for big returns . At worst he gives it a shot for 2 years, even if nothing comes from it it'll be a different experience,in a different Country with a couple of years break and he can come right back into the NRL at 29 for a 5 year contract which any club in the league will bend over to give him.And that's if it totally fizzes ,if he gets even a sniff and only plays back up reggies he'll make more coin than Parra.

I thought he was taller than that?

TE seems the most suitable position for his size/weight and it's more a position where you run straight lines and not every TE is a good blocker. He'd be a Jimmy Graham/Julius Thomas style TE if that's the position he played. TE's also don't have breakaway speed like a WR does. They are bulkier than a WR as they play off the line of scrimmage (most of the time). They do go across the middle as well so they need to take a hit.

He could possibly be a possession style receiver but the routes for a WR are a little more complex than that of a TE.

Teams look for there TE's to be around Jimmy Graham (6-7/265) and Rob Gronkowski (6-6/265) size and Hayne falls well short of that. Both of these and some other TE's play as an extra WR split from the line. Those who are not split from the OL are asked to do more blocking then just pass receiving.

I really don't see Hayne playing TE he would have to add too much weight to his frame.

A possession style WR I can see Hayne being. But then again he could be something more then that. He is of similar size Cowboys #1 receiver Dez Bryant and both have good leaping ability. Bryant is not a speedster and it would not surprise me if Hayne had it on him for speed.

Hayne was signing Rugby League cards for some West Aussie fans the other day, that would have made you proud

HE LIVES

Also, it'd be my lifetime dream to play NFL if I got paid millions per year.

I'm not saying it isn't his, it'd just be bad for RL if he was a success.
