I personally dont think this is such a bad thing....
i mean, its a shame to lose Hayne (both for the NRL and for Parra), but its not like losing a player to vfl or union. NFL and NRL arent competitiors in the Australian market.
For most AUstralian sports fans, NFL would be seen as this god-like figure of competitions. To a degree, the ARLC could harness this and present itself as a potential partway through to the NFL. (few is any would actually make that jump, but 8 uear olds arent going to know that. using the love of the NFL to bring kids into RL teams would be a brilliant marketing tactic)
On a side note: id love to see the ARLC push for some kind of loose partnership with the NFL (similar to the Touch Football partnership). For the NFL, its a touchpoint within Australia/ for RL, its a link to a behemith of a brand.
