On the flip side of this I'm surprised the NRL doesn't hold try out camps at universities in the states. Less than 5% of uni players make it to the NFL and that is a massive athletic talent pool of players with build and skills suitable for RL that stop playing am football in their early twenties.

If he does make it , it will be the biggest promo for the NRL ever.

Only problem is the seppo commentators will probably call him the Ossie rugby player.

Sorry Hayne, I hope you fail.

If Hayne succeeds, what's to stop the next Hayne/Inglis chasing big money in the NFL? The NRL, even with exemptions, can't compete with NFL money.

Only Hayne and GI are the only 2 with even close to the skills to make it. Even then it's way down the roster. It's no threat great exposure for RL though

Physically Hayne will be OK - finding a position will be difficulty

But understanding play calls and the playbook of the team alone will be quite a challenge

He won't make it - he will be invited to a training camp and will be cut in August. 12 months later, he will be back.

It is good he is following his dream but he has left us in the lurch big time.

A cynics view:

He spends 12 months holidaying in the US and then comes back to league with the help of the NRL's short sighted discretionary powers to earn himself a nice big bonus payment. Managers would have been planning something like this as soon as the NRL announced the discretionary power rubbish, Hayne won't be the last to try it.

Oh god, you know what the funniest possible outcome out of this could be?

Hayne goes away for a couple of years. In that time, Parra use up their cap, & then can't afford the 1mill to sign him. Then he signs elsewhere..... at the Bulldogs.

Even Parra fans would have a laugh, whilst they are tying the knot.

Its being called proactive and the NRL have never been that.
