weird - huge talent, but I am assuming he'll be a running back? Not much use for his range of skills

Have you seen how an NFL running back moves? He hasn't got the agility and hip flexibility right now to be an NFL running back, any skill position for that matter right now.

And he also needs technique to be a tight end to block when required.

Everything Hayne knows right now about how to run and move will need to be stripped back. He'll spend a whole year just learning how to move for NFL before he gets a look in anywhere. He'll be competing against players who'll be doing this a lot longer.

I know he's been doing work with Roger Fabri over the last year at least. This will be taken to another level now.

Good luck to him for having the balls to go after something he wants. Watching the press conference, he's realistic about the challenge that lay ahead.

LOL! Hasn't even been offered a contract by any NFL team yet, but has officially quit League....WTF???

I'm assuming he has a guaranteed spot at a training camp and is taking next season off to prepare. No reason to do this if he doesn't have a guaranteed invite.

At 6 foot 2 inches and 220 pounds he has the size to play wide receiver or defensive back.

He's too old to learn intricacies of the game imo, you can just chuck a guy in at RB and expect him to be able to read blocks, read defenses, and be able to absorb and learn a play book when he's never played a down

Maybe WR, he has fluid hips but he's never run a route before, and he's going to be such a raw route runner, that even if he is athletically gifted, he's not more gifted than most corners, even 3rd or 4th string, any corner worth their salt will be able to read his hips, read his movements and stick with him and make plays on the ball.

He could make it as a kick return specialist, but no NFL team rosters KR/PR Specialists unless they offer you something else. He is athletically special, so he'd be signed by a team but he would need to spend 12 months, probably 24 on a practise squad learning the game. So he's going to be 28 before he can even make a roster IMO.

This is a bad idea. If he was going to do it, he should have done it 5 years ago

Ill be following with interest though

Bingo!

Now this man truly watches NFL!

Only spot he might make it is punter, as he has a massive boot on him.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how he goes. I think it'd be an amazing to have an aussie playing a proper position in the NFL (punter is not, and will never be, a position worth talking about).

I can't be bothered reading 9 pages of dribble, so not sure what's been said earlier in the thread, but I unfortunately don't think it'll work though. I just can't see what position he'll play. He's not going to be a RB, he won't be a TE. I think it leaves him as either a WR, CB or maybe at a push a Safety.

Put it this way, Justin Gatlin, one of the fastest men ever to grace the earth couldn't crack it despite playing in high school

Or he knows he can just waltz into the Wallabies side ahead of the world cup if he fails.

That's where I see him. Special teams early on. He'd be deadly on the punt returns

I doubt he'd be that great at special teams. Hayne is quick, but he needs ridiculous acceleration to be a returner, and I'm afraid he'd just look stock standard next to some of the NFL standard returners.
