We lost our first three. We havent won a premiership in over 30 years. We were kicked out for two years. For gods sake get some new material.

The only reason you are here is because you're jealous of our club. Not all of our gambles have payed off, but at least Rusty and Phac are trying something new to take the game into the future rather then keep it in the stone ages.

For instance, while we are prospering financially, landing the biggest jersey partnership in the nrl, other teams like st george will be on the streets begging for money, now that the pokies tax has them well and truely bent over.

It too is easy to talk about our lack of success in recent times. The reason we have no premierships in that time is simply cause our our financial position did not allow us to compete in the player market. But compare that to a side like st george who had the best team in the nrl for quite a while and won crap all.

And if you really feel like talking recent history, who won the charity shield? who made the top eight last year? Unfortunately Souths will always have their detractors. It is simply because fans of teams like st george are jealous

He's not worth any kind of meritorious response Aaron.

Deranged and sick individuals like him deserve to watch a Souths reject like Kearney wipe out his side!

Pfft

Just what the doctor ordered!!

And next week Souffs supporters will have the pleasure of watching a Souffs "reject" wipe out their side...............

On the plus side Asotasi could be the halfback to partner Sutton in the side

The day was Sunday the 25th of June. The venue, then Telstra Stadium. The oposition, the Warriors. The score line, 66-0.

46 missed tackles. 16 errors. This, to many, is aptly named the darkest point in Rabbitohs history sinse readdmission. The media didn't let us quickly forget about it either.

This is one of too many horific losses from that period.

Yet through it all, we went to the games, we flew the flag. We Sang "Glory, Glory" when the boys got home. Are we still the same group of supporters? I have heard countless people writing us off, not only for 2008, but for future seasons as well. This decade isn't over for us, and niether is this year.

"This is a great position for us to be in, it's a great position for us to show what we're made of"

You have to realise that there always was going to be a time between when our experienced players left and our young blokes grew into first grade. There was always going to be a time when JT, one of the youngest coaches in the competition, was going to have to learn a few lessons the hard way. Great coaches aren't born, their made. JT will be better for these last few weeks and so will our team.

"Are we going to give up on ourselves or are we going to fight our way out the other side?"

The Souths Sydney Football Club has been through a horror 20 years. No denying it. But for the first time ever, we are not only financially secure, we are in fact one of the most well off clubs in the NRL. For the first time in my life quality players actually want to play for the Rabbitohs. We are in a good position. Our team, while they have been under-achieving, have a tonne of ability. It is only a matter of time before they start to show it.

"Everyone else is going to give up on us, that's great, give up, but we won't - and we'll come out the other side a better team."

Now would the REAL Souths Sydney fans please stand up and get behind our boys?

Are true fan sticks by the club and its rewarding when they do go well, keep your chin up Souths fans.

Im gonna tip you guys whoever you play just because im feeling crazy. Jason Taylor is a good coach aswell, last year Souths kept themselves in the game by defending their tit out and they can do it again.

01. Nathan Merritt
02. Sam Huihahau
03. Nigel Vagana
(Defence is needed in the backline)
04. Fetuli Talanoa
05. Shannon Hegarty
06. John Sutton
07. Eddie Paea (
not much other option, Sandow isnt ready, Wing Out, Jez Smith Crap)
08. Michael Greenfield
09. George Ndaira
10. Roy Asotasi
11. David Kidwell
12. Luke Stuart
13. Ben Lowe

14. Beau Falloon
15. Dean Widders
16. Jaiman Lowe
17. Manase Manuokafoa

I would love to blood Chris Sandow, he has been outstanding so far this season for the youths, but if you through a rookie in the deep end too early it can damage the development of their game.

realistically we cant completely renovate our team, without throwing in too many rookies, i think a new halfback is needed definately anyway.

I know Rusty Crowe has other things to worry about but i bet he would be a bit more vocal if they were winning.

IMO jt should have stuck with paea. i think by now we would be seeing him start to find rhythm. when ever the kid gets a shot at firsts, he is yanked out before he can adjust to the culture shock. i'de have huihahau over paulson. vagana is a must. our right side defence is a joke, and i hear he's back next week. along with frog, things are looking up.

for gods sake dont give up on our team. it always gets darkest just before dawn

We were pretty flat.

We were unable to ignite and create any momentum.

But we saw some glimpses and at the end of the day, for the most part we controlled the ruck much better than we have done in past games. Thats a good sign. Sutto played well and punched through them a few times, Smith was satisfactory for his first game back.

Hegs had a very strong game, making 180 metres, which was much more than any other player in the match. He made a line break, 2 hit ups and didnt miss a single tackle. For all of his misfortune in the past, he's on fire at the moment, which makes me pretty happy anyway.

On a stats basis, Beau Champion outplayed Jamie Lyon. I have no complaints of him here.

I thought the forwards did a fair job of containing the meatheads. The tries that came for Manly, most of them were opportunistic.

In fact we looked pretty good when we found our legs, but sadly, that didnt come often enough.

Manly are a much better side than the Panthers, so it stands to reason that we would struggle a bit against them. We certainly didnt let them get their attack in order. That was an encouraging sign.

We have to be close to the win.

Round five.

1. Fetuli: Continues to impress. Played too conservatively today.
2. Merritt: I agree with Gus Gould, Max belongs here.
3. Gorden: Due for a big game soon.
4. Vagana: Need his passing and kicking.
5. Hegarty: See above.

6. Sutton: New lease of life in this role.
7. Smith: We need to stick with him.

8. J Lowe: Has hit some massive form for the bears.
9. Paea: Bring him on. We could use his creativity.
10. Roy: Had a big game today. Best game all year... he's back!
11. Frog: Long overdue. Weve missed him. He'll be fresh and ready.
12. Kidwell: Warning Notice. Watmough killed him today.
13. Ndaira: Has a bit of attack in him.

14. McPherson: Showed (just) enuff
15. L Stuart: Had a massive game today.
16. B Champion: Showed enuff, utility player.
17. Dean Widders: stable.

If Greenfield is back, he's straight in for George, George to 14 and McPherson benched.

Selections are one thing, but I'm beginning to see what Newcastle Rabbit is warning us about. We need to see some changes in the enthusiasm and game plans.

Giving up is not an option.

Points will gather again for the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

We have some tremendous players and excellent people behind us.

Its just a matter of hauling it all in.

The sharks have been good this year, great win this weekend, but we should be able to beat them and pretty soundly too.

im with penance. smith was disasterous today. his kicking game non existent. i do agree with you on one thing though. bring on paea. we could use his creativity. now he has frog back in the forwards and nigel back out wide, which will beef up our defence and aggression. this is the time to get paea into the number 7 jersey and keep him there. jezza really didnt feed sutto well enough. although his defence was exemplary, he simply cannot stay
